The rest of the ride passed in slightly uncomfortable silence. You found a riding spot and coaxed (d/n) into flying circles around the group, ignoring it when Astrid scoffed loudly at your antics. It was particularly satisfying when Hiccup glared at her to get her to shut up.

After about an hour of flying, you looked up from the incredible view and gasped. In front of you was a small island with peculiar rock formations and immense forests. Judging by the proud smile on Hiccup's face, this was clearly Berk. Tucked in between two spires of rock was a little village, with people going about their daily lives. The most remarkable thing about Berk was the cloud of dragons circling around it. You stared without shame, eyes drinking in the dragon nest in the cliff, the dragons only area, the dragon everything. "This place was built by a genius," you whisper in awe. "I mean, who is your chief? They're amazing." Hiccup flushed red next to you, and cleared his throat awkwardly. "Um, thank you."

Your gaze turned to him. "You're the chief?" He rubbed the back of his neck, looking away. "Surprise?" He shrugged unsurely. You cleared your throat, embarrassed at your earlier familiarity, at the way you had greeted him... You had sassed the chief of Berk! You swallowed and decided to turn it into a joke. "Should I bow?" You asked, a smile playing at your lips. Hiccup shook his head vigorously, saying "Please, don't even joke about that."

You laughed at the ridiculous expression on his face and urged (d/n) to dive into the cloud of dragons, whooping on your way down. You could sense Hiccup behind you and you swerved around dragon after dragon, taking in the sights of Berk. Up ahead there was a square seemingly meant for either gatherings or landing. You brought (d/n) out of her dive and pulled up short, landing clumsily on the cobblestones and hanging on for dear life.

A crowd started to gather around you, people glaring suspiciously at the newcomer. You brushed your messed up (h/c) hair out of your eyes and looked around at the people, wondering how you were going to handle this. Just as you opened your mouth, probably to say something that would sound stupid and ridiculous, Hiccup landed beside you and smoothly dismounted, the dragon riders getting off behind him. You smiled gratefully at him, mentally thanking him for stopping you from running your mouth.

An older man with a peg leg came up to him, asking questions with a furious expression on his face. Hiccup silenced him with a regal smile, saying "We'll have a meeting in the great hall. All your questions will be answered, don't worry about it."

He dismissed the crowd with a wave, turning to you. All his earlier joviality had gone, replaced by an air of importance and seriousness. As he looked at you, clearly thinking about how he would introduce you to the island, a small smile played across his lips. You cocked your head, raising your eyebrow, and were relieved that he had stopped acting like a chief. It was kind of unsettling, and you told him so.

Hiccup laughed a bit, and gestured for you to follow him. "Come on, I'll show you where you'll be staying."

You walked down from the stage, uncomfortable. Hiccup had shown you where you were going to be staying, with Ruffnut and Tuffnut, the twins. You were skeptical about the sleeping arrangements, but he assured you that it would only be temporary until he could have a house built for you. He'd then brought you to the Great Hall, introduced you to the cautious Vikings, and was now talking about some building plan he had for more upgrades to the village.

You drifted to the back of the crowd, running a hand through your (h/c) hair. A flash of white caught your eyes, and you turned, not knowing what to expect. A boy with white hair who looked about your age stood in a blue sweatshirt seemingly speckled with snow, leaning on a curved stick and looking around with slightly panicked blue eyes. You narrowed your own (e/c) ones, and slid through the crowd towards him, curious. As you watched, his gaze locked on you, and he gasped and dropped his stick. He shoved his way through, ignoring the confused mutterings of the people around him, like they couldn't see him. You didn't dare move.

The white-haired boy stopped in front of you, trembling. "(y-y/n)?" He cradled your face in his hands. They were surprisingly cold, and you flinched back, ducking away. This guy clearly knew you, maybe recognized you from your past life, but you couldn't place him. "Do I know you?" You asked, unsure. The boy's icy blue eyes flashed with pain and regret. His face closed, his gaze so raw with emotion that you nearly looked away. He took a step back and sighed, his voice hard. "No, you don't. Of course you don't." He opened his mouth as if to say something more, but then decided against it.

He turned away, slipping through the crowd. You took a few steps after him, and then you remembered. "Jack," you whispered, picking up speed. The rush of emotions that came along with his name made you sway on your feet, but you couldn't let him get away. You pushed the doors open and slipped through, looking around frantically for the white-haired boy. That idiot, you thought, searching for anything. "JACK!" you shouted, though knowing inside that he was already gone. The dizziness took over, and you sank to your knees as the memory came in a wave.

You looked up in wonder at the winter's first snow. It drifted down, dancing its way on the wind. You wrapped your scarf tighter around your neck and pulled your (f/c) coat closer. It was almost Christmas, and songs were playing over and over in your head.

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose," you sang softly, not caring if it was offkey or not. (you decide!) Looking up again, you narrowed your eyes at the boy sitting on your backyard's fence. "Who are you?" you asked suspiciously. The boy smirked and put his elbows on his knees. "Jack Frost."
