Full Metal Zombie

It's been a week since I was sick and let me tell you I just got my strength back. Now that 10k knows I don't carry my inhaler, he always checks my bag. But I can never thank them enough for what they did for me. We were waiting on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere watching 10k about to kill a Z with his slingshot.

"One thousand sixty!" said 10k

"Nice shot, kid!" said Doc

"Amish zombies? Really? They tried to quarantine themselves from the rest of society and still turn into Z's" I said
" Well we were all carrying the virus. Didn't matter who you were or how you died. It's like Night of the Living Dead." said Addy.
"Great movie, sucky reality. You know what I don't get, If the Zs didn't spread the virus, how did we all get infected?" asked 10k.

"Best guess I heard, it was spread by birds. Some kind of parasite piggybacked on the bird flu. Stays dormant 'till you die. You know take it from somebody who knows first hand. Other than the fact that they find brains delicious, when it comes to zombies nobody knows nothin'." said Doc.
"How long does it take it for him to pee?" I asked Warren.
"I don't know. Hey, hurry up I want to get past DC before dark." Yelled Warren.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Murphy Yelled. I turn back to Doc and 10k and continue to listen to there conversation. We all got in the back of the truck and continued on the road again.
"I'm tellin' ya, there ain't nothin' there. No thoughts, no memories, no soul. Nothin'." Said Doc.
"Well they're not dead. They want something." said Mac.
"Yeah. Brains." I said
"You can't want something if you're not conscious, if you don't have a soul. When my pa was wounded, he told me to tie him up before he turned. Made me promise to show him mercy when he died. Kill the brain, you know? I couldn't do it. I couldn't hurt my pa, no matter what he'd become. I stared into his eyes for the longest time, just looking for some sign he was still in there. I killed it." 10k said as he was telling Doc the story.
"Damn, kid. You had to put down your own dad?" said Doc

"Didn't kill him I killed it." said 10k
"But if it's not alive, how did you kill it?" asked Doc.

"Piked it right in the skull and it was my first kill." said 10k.

"Tommy stop" I whispered to him.
"I always wish he knew, you know, somehow knew that I kept my promise." said 10k.
"Humans! Six o'clock! I see them." Yelled Warren.

Mac, Doc, and 10k kid me and I could feel myself starting not to breathe, I don't want to go through that again.

"Thomas." I whispered.
"Is that more of your cannibal friends?" asked Murphy

"No. Something else." Said Cass

I looked around Doc and Mac and saw a bunch of Z's chained to confer blocks.
"Look at their feet!" I said to Charlie.

All of the sudden a family came out with guns pointed at us.
"Hold it right there! All right, now drop your weapons or die right where you stand. Put down the weapons or eat brains. Now, we just want the vehicle. All right? So give us the truck and we'll let you live to die another day." said the guy.
"Give them the truck!" said Murphy

"Don't give them a goddamn thing!" said Warren.

"Do the math Garnett. We have other priorities. Give them the damn truck." said Murphy
"Listen to your friend there. Nobody wants to die. But we're taking that truck." said the guy.
"Say the word, Garnett." I said having the gun trained on the guy's head.
"Let them have the truck." said Garnett.
"Smart move." said the guy as his family got in the truck and left.
"Alright guys, let's go! They're not gonna get very far." said Warren.
As we were walking along the road, we saw the truck pulled off to the side.

"Y'all see that?" 10k asked.

"That's them, alright. Bastards." said Doc.
"Looks like they're trying to rob some poor family this time." I said
"Not if I have anything to say about it." said the man coming out behind the truck.
"Come on. Would it matter at all if I said don't do this?" said Doc.
