Zonnique

Nine o'clock in the morning, I was already up getting dressed. I barely got any sleep last night since we were counting that money. Overall Zoey got away with fifty five thousand. It was an easy robbery honestly. Hopefully we'll get in touch with Travis and get both Alana and my sister. I pulled up my boyfriend styled ripped jeans, a black undershirt, red plaid flannel long ssleeve and my spiked timbs. I brushed my hair in a high pony tail leaving the rest to hang down. As I began putting on lipstick, Zoey grabbed me roughly.

"What the fuck-"

"We gotta go. Get your shit and come on." He put the duffle bag over his shoulder and walked over to the balcony.

"What's going on?" I asked grabbing my mcm bag and Kami's favorite stuffed unicorn.

"There's police are all in the lobby."

"Zoey I think-"

Before I could speak, he pulled out on the balcony and hopped over the ledge onto the ladder. My eyes widened in disbelief. I hope he does expect me to get on that.

"Zonnique climb your ass down now."

"I do not do heights!" I scoffed.

"Well you gon being doing jail in a minute."

"Fine."

I crawled over the ledge grabbing onto to Zoey. He crawled down the ladder with me holding into him. We made it down to the bottom and went up to the parking deck. I threw Zoey the car keys then hopped inside the passenger seat. He started the car up and checked the rearview mirror. It was clear. He reversed the car and drove out of the parking deck. I pulled out my cellphone then dialed up Travis's number.

"Who is this?"

"Zonnique! Look we have the money. Is there anywhere we can meet to switch it off?" I asked.

"You got fifty thousand dollars right now?" He chuckled in disbelief.

"Yes Travis. That was the deal!"

"Calm down, meet me behind the old warehouse in Augustine."

"Where is that?"

"On Parrish Road. You got thirty minutes or she's dead." He threatened then hung the phone up.

I sucked my teeth.

"What he say?" Zoey asked glancing over at me.

"He said meet him behind this warehouse on Parrish road." I told him while putting my GPS app on.

"I don't trust that nigga."

"Neither do I."

"If he try some slick shit, I'm killing him and whoever else with him."

"I'm with you on that one."

•••

Exactly thirty minutes later, we arrived behind the grunge looking warehouse. I grabbed my gun tucking it in my pants. Zoey got the duffle bag and zipped it up. For some reason I was having a bad feeling about this. I looked out the window to see a big black van pulling up. That looked like the one in the picture. Both Zoey and I got out the car. The back doors of the van opened up, revealing my little sister with a gun to her head. Victor held the gun to her temple as he walked over to us.

"What the fuck Travis!" I screamed.

"Where's the money?" He asked with an irritated look.

"Zoey give him the bag."

He looked at me and began to take the duffle bag from around his shoulder. "Now." He mouthed to me.

"Huh-"

Before Travis could finish his sentence, my hand pulled back on the trigger killing him instantly. Kami screeched and ran over to me. I picked her up holding her tightly. She cried into my shoulder. It felt unreal being able to hold my baby again.

"Shit!" Zoey yelled.

I looked up to see some of Travis' friends getting out the van.

"Get in the car Kami!" I ordered.

She nodded then ran off to the backseat. With that, I fired a couple shots to the dark skinned boy's chest. There were only two of them so it didn't take long to get rid of them. Soon I heard sirens and began to get into the car.

"Wait. Where the hell is Alana?" Zoey exclaimed looking inside the van.

"Oh gosh..."

"They must've left her back wherever they held them hostage at." He sucked his teeth and gestured for me to get into the car.

I quickly got into the passenger seat and tried catching my breath. The sirens got closer, so Zoey sped up the car. He was going so fast that I had to hold onto to the door handle. I glanced into rearview mirror to see two police cars.

"Zoe drive faster!"

"Zonnique it only goes a hundred miles per hour!"

I didn't bother to protest. Instead I looked in the backseat to see Kami. She had this nauseous expression over her face.

"Kam!"

"Y-Yes?" She whispered, lowly.

"Are you okay?" I asked frantically.

She shook her head no.

"She probably needs some rest, food, and a shower." Zoey reassured me.

As he continued driving, I noticed the sirens lowering in sound. We lost them. A sigh of relief left my mouth. Zoey was driving for so long that I didnt even remember falling asleep. My eyes slowly fluttered open to see we were at a gas station. Seven Eleven actually. I yawned and turned around. Kami was sleeping, with an uncomfortable look on her face. It's sad seeing my sister like this. I've put her through so much and she's only five. I shook my head then got out the car. I jogged inside the store to get something to eat. While on the aisle, I picked up some candy bars, chips and drinks. I went up to the counter then placed all my items up there.

"How are you ma'am?" The boy asked me.

"Fine." I muttered, digging in my wallet.

"That'll be ten dollars and ninety three cents."

As I handed him the money, my eyes widened looking the television behind him.

"Just in, three African American males were gunned down behind an abandoned warehouse on Parrish road. It was suspected to be a hit and run from source's. Police say a suspicion red car fled the scene just after police arrived. Here's a photo--"

"Shit." I mumbled seeing a picture of Zoey's car. I quickly ran out the store and back into the car. My heart was beating out of my chest nearly.

As I got in the car, Zoey looked over at me like I was crazy.

"What happened?"

"We have to ditch this car Zoe. Its all over the news." I sighed dramatically.

"Dammit."

I looked out the window as he drove off. "Where are we going?"

"To look for Alana first."
