~Shane's POV~
A week passed since I saw Joey and I miss him. I want to see him again. I looked at my phone for what felt like the millionth time. Nope no messages. I sighed. What is he doing right now? Is there a chance he might be thinking of me?
I stood up and went to the bathroom and decided to take a shower. I felt a little disgusting because I haven't taken a shower since I last saw Joey. Yeah, i know what you're thinking...like...when I shake my hair, dandruff comes out. It's that bad.
After taking a really refreshing shower, I decided to watch TV. I looked at my phone again. Should I text him? Should I ask what he's doing?
I pondered for a little bit and began to type to him, "Hey Joey, I miss yo-". I erased the message. That's sounds a bit too creepy. I began to type another message, "Hi Joey, what's up?" I pressed send and watched the blue bar at the top disappear showing that the message was sent.
"Yup. That sounds way better and way less creepy," I said to myself.
I waited for an answer back and soon my phone dinged. The message read, "Hey Shane! I just got back from a lunch date with Cat :) What's up with you??"
I frowned at the message. I don't have I right to hate Cat and I don't because she seems like a nice person, and I don't. But let's say I am kind of jealous of Cat.
I replied back, "I'm just sitting in my apartment really bored lol."
He immediately answered back, "Really? Then so you want to hang out today? I have to go to the mall to buy something. Wanna come with?"
My mood was immediately lifted. I typed in, "Sure. I'll go with you if you don't mind," even though I actually felt like saying: YES YES YES. But I refrained myself not to.
A message popped up, "Of course I don't mind! Let's meet at the mall at around 4:00 :D"
"Okay," I typed back.
Okay so that's about an hour from now. Good thing I just took a shower. One less thing to worry about.
I went to my room and decided to get my clothes ready. I picked out a plaid shirt; like I always wear and a pair of jeans. Before I put my clothes on, I took out my straightener. It is necessary at the moment because if I don't do anything to my hair, I become a penis head and I don't think Joey will like that one bit.
I parked my car and headed to the entrance where I saw Joey waiting for me.
"Shane you're SO late," Joey pouted.
Aww he's so cute when he does that. Wait, am I that late..? I looked at the time and noticed that I was only 2 minutes late. "I'm not that la-"
I felt someone wrap their arms around me and pull away. Joey laughed, "I was just kidding. It's great to see you again, Shane."
I felt myself blushing. Joey was already heading into the mall. I followed behind him. Joey went into some fancy clothing store. I felt awkward because I normally don't come into these types of stores.
After he browsed for a little bit, he picked up a simple top, and a scarf. Then he spoke, "Shane, you don't see anything you like?"
"Not really..."
"Don't you think it's time for you to get an outfit change?" Joey asked, "You should try something else for once!"
"Maybe next time..." I answered back.
Joey didn't push any further and purchased all of his things. By then it was around 5:00.
"Do you want ice cream or something?" Joey suggested.
"Sure!" Finally. Something I'm actually familiar with.
We went to get ice cream from the mall's food court. I got a waffle cone with two scoops of cookies and cream and Joey got a small cup of vanilla ice cream. He said he doesn't want to get fat. I tried to explain that getting something fattening once in a while won't harm him. He then claimed that he already ate a slice of cake earlier. I just dropped the subject after that.
We went to sit at a bench to eat our ice cream. I watched the people walk by. There was a woman with a stroller holding a small baby. There was a pregnant woman holding the hand of a 4 year old child. A screaming child holding a stuffed bear was running as his father was chasing after him. I couldn't help but laugh at the funny sight. Then, standing near us were two guys getting a bit too close and they were kissing.
I don't know why, but seeing that made me really sad.
Joey noticed my facial expression. He asked, "Shane, you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," I laughed to reassure him that I was happy and real dandy.
I continued to eat our ice cream. Joey just finished and went to throw out his cup. So I stood up with him because I wanted to continue to walk around. 1) Because I wanted to start digesting all the stuff we ate and 2) I didn't want to see that couple because it just reminded me how much I wish that was me and Joey.
We just walked side by side occasionally window shopping each store we passed by. Joey held his shopping bag in his right hand and I still had the half melted ice cream beginning to drip down my waffle cone. We kept walking along. Then, suddenly, I felt something slip into my fingers.
~Joey's POV~
I held Shane's hand. I don't know why. There was no particular reason. It just felt necessary at that moment. I didn't really think it was a big deal because I've seen plenty of guys holding hands. It's just a friendly thing to do.
But this felt a little different. The fact that our hands fit perfectly. And it was more comforting than gently and soft girl hands. Shane's hand was more manly and bigger and stronger.
It...it felt right...
