Chapter 3

~Joey’s POV~ (written by kandy210)

A week after the party….

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

I groaned.

The annoying bell sound from my iPhone woke me up from my deep slumber. The sound continued to damage my eardrums. In hopes of turning the alarm off, I blindly felt around my head and under the sheets. After a few failed attempts, I opened my eyes. The window behind me was streaming in sunlight. I looked around my room. My previously neat blankets were scrunched up and covered only half of my body. I sat up and leaned against the headboard. My neck ached due to the position I slept in throughout the night. My now awoken brain reminded me that I still have to turn off the alarm. I found my phone under my pillow. I lazily picked it up and checked if I had any text messages or Facebook notifications until I glanced at the time at the top of my phone’s screen.

HOLY FREAKING CRAP.

It was already 8:27. I’m going to be late for work.

I literally jumped out of the bed five feet in the air and sprinted to the bathroom. I decided it was already too late to take a shower. I took a shower last night anyway. I quickly styled my hair. I looked in the mirror. I don’t look too shabby.

I put on a pair of maroon skinny jeans, a striped t-shirt and grabbed a jacket before I walked out the door. I checked the time on my phone.

It’s 8:41 and I needed to get there by 9:00.

I’ll probably get there just in time.

I sprinted to my car, unlocked the door and slipped in. I drove and drove and drove. I was probably going over the speed limit, but it didn’t matter to me at the moment. I pulled into the parking lot and went inside the building with the big sign that read “FroYo” above the entrance. I quickly ran inside.

“Sorry I’m late!” I yelled as I grabbed my uniform and got ready and situated myself into work mode. My breathing was just getting to its normal pace. I really need to work out more.

“Joey?” My friend Meghan called out, “umm…what are you doing here?”

“Huh?” I looked at her with a puzzled face. What did she mean ‘What am I doing here?’ I work here! Duh!

“Joey,” she said amused, “It’s Saturday. You’re off on the weekends. Remember?” By now she was laughing and I couldn’t help but laugh with her.

“Well, that’s me,” I said with a smile attempting to be cute.

While I’m here, I might as well get some frozen yogurt. I take a cup and I started to pour my ingredients in it. I usually don’t have ice cream or unhealthy things in general, but I have an unusual sweet tooth today. I put in some vanilla frozen yogurt, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and my favorite; almonds. I grab a spoon and take a bite of the white, creamy goodness.

I sat down at a table and took out my phone and sighed. It’s been a week. It’s been a week since I met that boy, Shane, at the party. I even gave him my number. I thought about his smile, and I couldn’t help but grin along with my thoughts.

“Hey Joey, are you okay? You’re grinning as if you won an award or something,” Meghan said.

I looked up at her. And I answered her truthfully, “I was just thinking about a new friend I made at a party I went to a few days ago.”
