Chapter 6 - Berrilium

From days, to weeks, and suddenly, it's been two months already. Two months since I ran away from the place I once thought as, as my home.

"Later Lily." I wave at the pretty blond, as I push open the exit of my new high school.

Two weeks after I officially moved into Prime Enforcers Pack, I decided that public high school would be best for me. And it is. Here, no one knew me. First impressions were everything in high school, and here I could make a good one. I didn't have pack members whispering false tales to the humans in order for them to stay far away from me. Things have changed so much in such a short time. I bounce over to Michael. He's leaning against a red corvette. His car Louise. I find it funny how sometimes he makes me take off my shoes before I step into his baby. Turns out Michael is a junior and is only a year older than me. He and I have grown close. He's one of my best friends. A term I hadn't had the pleasure of using in a long time.

"No practice today then, or are you skipping?" He ask as he opens the passenger door for me.

I'm a cheerleader. Goddess, it's still weird admitting that too myself. I never imagined that I could make it as a cheerleader. I was just never pretty enough, fit enough, or flexible enough. It took a lot of bravery from me to even consider auditioning. Something Adrianna thought would be good for me. Adrianna and I have also grown closer. Another bestie I acquired in my short stay at the Prime Enforces pack. She helped me learn the routine, and even though the school year had already begun, I got the chance to audition. Still to my surprise, I made the team.

"Skipping. Adrianna and May are most likely going to chew me out, but I need to go out for a run. My wolf is growing restless." I respond as I slide in.

Michael glances my way, and releases a sigh. "You know, you are allowed to run with the pack. You don't need to go out alone." He explains while he closes the passenger door.

He races around to the driver's seat, slipping in and starts the car.

I turn towards him after I place my seat belt on. "I know, it's just weird for me you know. I've never had the opportunity to run with a pack before, and I'm just not ready yet."

This wasn't the first time we've had this conversation. The prime enforces pack trained in their wolf forms just as often as they trained in their human form. Every full moon the pack did a pack run. There was one just a few weeks ago, but I skipped it, even though my wolf scratched at my skin, trying to burst free. I'm not sure what my problem is, but I have a good feeling that like all my other problems, it had something to do with my old pack. No matter how much I change, at the back of my mind, the thought of my old pack sits, never fading away. My heart throbs, as it grasps on the threaded bond between Jake and I. I roll my shoulders, willing myself to smother the thread, wanting nothing but to cut it out of me.

Michael pulls out of the school parking lot, then zooms out onto the street. "I get it Destiny. You need some more time. It's okay sweetheart, take all the time you need." He flashes me that panty melting smile, that always makes me blush.

I grin back, shaking my head at the hot guy next to me. It's still weird having such hot friends. We drive on for a few, my leg bouncing up and down, eager to race across a large amount of space and switch over to four legs. As soon as the car parks in one of the many parking spaces at the house, I fling the car door open.

"Hey. Hey. Careful!" Michael shouts at me.

"Sorry." I yell, giggling.

I don't bother go through the house. I drop my bag next to a passing tree. Speeding off into the mass of tress, pack members greeting me with smiles and hellos. I return everyone's greeting, answering them each by name. I had grown to know mostly everyone in the pack. They were all pretty welcoming and kind. The difference between this pack and my old pack shining through brightly as always.
