Chapter 12 - Back to Berrilium

I sit on my bed inside of my bedroom, the sun seeping through the windows brightly. I tug on my combat boots and stand. After my evening with Jake, I had quickly returned to my bedroom, wanting nothing more than to curl up into a ball and cry. With my wayward emotions, I didn't get the chance. Instead I laid in bed staring at my ceiling, while deep hatred filled my lungs with each breath. I step close to a standing mirror not really caring about my outfit, I was more interested in the evidence of my horrid night. Deep bags sat underneath my eyes, while my brown eyes looked dull and lifeless, so much like they were when I was living here. This place has sucked away so much of my happiness, my sanity.

I should have expected this though, how could I have not. Being in such close proximity to my mate, and have him reject me for another would drive anyone insane. I have never met someone who was once rejected by their mate, but I had heard the rare stories from a long time ago. None of them ended well for the rejecte. I think my trip to Berrilium should help some with regaining some life. Just being there would help my personal magic and strength return to me. And I'll get to see Abbigail, my sweet girl.

I feel some of the sadness drift away into the deep shadows within me, and I smile. The odd calmness is still there, but it feels lighter as I continue to contemplate my trip to Berrilium. I take a deep breath preparing myself for the people I will most likely encounter today. I walk towards my door, pulling it open and stepping into the hall. There is clangs and foot stomping that I have been ignoring for the past two hours, around the house. I take another deep breath willing myself to act normal. The glares and disgusted looks are instant as I begin to pass others. I head down to the kitchen, knowing that I already missed training, but expecting to see my pack mates there.

I could smell each of their scents, along with the strong smell of food. I step through the entrance of the kitchen, immediately catching the eyes of my family.

'We need to have a meeting, now.' I mind link to each of them, before turning away and finding one of the empty conference rooms. Everyone files in after me, Annabelle being the last, and shutting the door.

Before anyone could open their mouths, I speak.

"I'm going to be heading out to Berriluim, there is something urgent I need to discuss with Mark." I didn't bother with details. Honestly, I didn't know what details to give.

"We heard, Derek informed us. Though, first let's discuss the fact that you not only almost attacked an alpha's mate, you ran off, not thinking to contact us, during a neighboring pack dispute might I add, and came back not breathing, only to escape out of your medical room after you finally woke up." Jason's face turns a deep red. I frown. "I-

"Look Destiny, I get it. You're our queen, but you are also pack while were here. What you did was unacceptable. I believe I asked specifically if you can handle it here. Now you're talking about going to Berrilium, not even bothering to explain what the hell happened after almost attacking an alpha's mate." Jason's face sank in disappointment as he rubbed his head. I've never known Jason to scold me like this, I must have really messed up. Though he was being a bit irrational.

I look at the others. Annabelle isn't looking at me, just simply staring off. Adriana's face held a tight frown while she watched me. Michael's face held anger, while Derek stared at me with a look I couldn't read. My heart stuttered inside my chest. I turn my attention back to Jason.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry. On the earthen world, you are my charge, and I get that, but it's this place. Its messing with my head, and all these bad memories are resurfacing... I...I got attacked by this rabid rogue and passed out I guess. I don't know what happened, but I really do need to go to Berrilium." Jason didn't seem satisfied.
