May 1, 1954
"I hate standard answers", Doctor Roach said.
"You want to get the President off-side?", Doctor Harris asked.
"No; no. I want answers. You do know there's radiation testing going on. It's called 'Castle Bravo'". Doctor Harris nodded.
"There's CLASSIFIED material that we're not briefed on. We're making it our duty to slave away so we can do their work; we're not immune to the threats of aliens".
"There's threats because of Korea...and the Communists. Joe thinks that everyone is a Commie". Doctor Harris sighed.
"Senator Joe McCarthy is forcing people to say that they're wrong...and he's right. He has an agenda; President Eisenhower also has an agenda...And that's the problem".
Suddenly the Colonel appeared.
"Don't sulk, boys!".
"We're not sulking; we're insulted".
"Insulted! By who? The US Army? The President? The aliens?".
"Funny, Colonel. But this is not going away. New York is a RED AREA", Doctor Harris said. He shivered, as the B/W radio was on.
"The Third Phase on the alien invasion will be more dangerous. The fate of America is at stake. Yes, we were at war twice; yes, we were at war a third time in Korea. But Korea was different to WWI and WWII; Korea was to diffuse a time bomb in Asia...
..."Now, as we continue the nuclear testing in the Pacific, we shall make the Invaded leave Earth. Too many people in the World, are praying to see them gone...
..."By declaring they have hostile intentions, they're going to die...soon. There's a 96 hour window before The End comes...and we, as a country...will not be changed into one of the Invaded...".
Doctor Harris turned off the radio.
"Gentlemen, as of 5:00 PM tonight, we have 92 hours until we're conquered...Let's get to work...Because time is of the essence".
All of them agreed...as darkness fell on the city of dreams in Hollywood...and on the LA Military base...where humans were being touched by the Invaded in record numbers.
