Emma shivered.
She hated the Invaded.
And, now, she vowed to leave the Island...as New Yorkers were touched by the evil aliens...And changed.

Mass panic gripped the city.
"What do you mean they're conquering us? Is that Colonel telling us that they're going to fail? Where's Joan?";
"Is The President doing anything?";
"New York is not a place for alien invasion..."...Emma heard the humans' eerie voices...She wanted to escape; she wanted to flee the Invaded.
She didn't have any money for a NYC taxi drive through Lower Manhattan...
...So she decided to walk through the chaos...And into the fire.

The yelling was so bad that Emma felt her heart racing.
She saw a car parked on the kerb.
A man was being touched on the forehead by a female Invader. She ran further than she'd had had ever ran before; she ran until the pain in her legs ached with exertion.
The strain fuelled a desire to eradicate the aliens.
More yelling happened; more screaming; more changing.
Emma noticed a boy crying.
"Are you alright?", she asked.
"No. They infected my parents...I left because I hate them. I hate what New York has become; I hate them all".
"I'm Emma".
"Mark".
"Let's get out of here".
"Where can we go?", he asked.
"To another place...Long Island", Emma answered.
And they ran past the invaded...and vowed to stay together...whatever the cost.
