I'll mean something to you.

Waking up to an empty bed was too familiar to Tyler considering he shared one with Josh. He was a heavy sleeper, but not heavy enough to ignore the giggles as Josh led another girl onto their couch. He wondered if he knew her name this time. Maybe Tyler would ask later on when Josh crawled into bed reeking like whiskey and giggling like crazy. It seemed like another night to Josh but it was absolutely unbe-fucking-lieveable he hooked up with five random chicks this month alone. Tyler hated it.

Of course, Josh didn't know that. Or if he did, he didn't care. The morning after led to humblebragging tied into soft apologies. At least that's how Tyler saw it. Every time he saw a piece of flaming orange hair on the couch, his patience thinned. He decided it'd be for the best to talk about it today.

But that's what Tyler always told himself. He spent years watching his best friend sleep around and did nothing about it. It's not like they're a thing anyways. He wasn't even sure why Josh sleeping around bothered him so much. Josh was a young adult, it's stupid to expect him to stay in all day and cuddle every night watching cheesy horror movies. It was stupid for Tyler to even want that, nevermind expecting it.

Sometimes he felt like he wanted to be enough for Josh, but at the age of 17, when he was sobbing into Josh's chest about their first kiss, Tyler realized he never would be. Josh deserved better, and boy did that truth hurt like a motherfucker.

Minutes went on before Tyler could sleep. Or maybe it had been hours. He lost track after he heard her moan his name.

Josh

To say it took him by surprise was a complete understatement. He never knew the names of his nightclub hookups. It scared the fuck out of Tyler. What if it had been more than just a hookup this time?

Maybe it was, then what? It wasn't like he could tell Josh to not date. For some reason, he just expected him not to. It was selfish and unfair to want Josh at all, but Tyler couldn't control his emotions. He couldn't trust himself right now. Had he wanted more?

The creaking of spring couch had somehow lured Tyler to sleep. He hoped the chick blowing his best friend in the living room right now would be nothing but a dream.

"That was fun," she smiled, playfully twirling her finger around Josh's chest. Josh didn't care for her much, but he bathed in the physical affection she gave him. The thought of a girlfriend (or any relationship at all really) scared him, so he decided he'd settle for the middle.

Unofficial... Only with everyone, if that made sense. To Josh, it did, so he decided to blindly run with it.

A part of him wanted to save himself. Maybe for his best friend. Whether it was because he wanted a romantic relationship with Tyler, or he'd feel guilty for dating anyone who'd have to deal with his sexually platonic relationship with Tyler, he wasn't really sure. He didn't understand the line between a best friend and a boyfriend because, at this point, there wasn't one.

"Did you think it was fun?" the purple haired girl asked. Josh had been so lost in thought he forgot she was still here.

"Uhm, yeah," He responded, checking the time on his phone. Apparently, it was too much fun. "You should leave."
