Away, away,
I must go away,
But just because I leave does not mean I will never return as you lay,
And miss me as you may,
Away, away,
I must go away,
For the cries of the lost stick in my ears,
There I must go.
So off I am,
On a journey with my flame.
I arrive upon the lands,
Where the broken man stands,
At his feet the tormented body of a women,
Oceans of black bloods sink into the Earth,
Her arm was twisted,
Her hand was mutilated,
Every finger crushed,
Her eyes wider than possible,
Her dull irises shadows of death,
Her mouth gaped with horrors,
The muscles in her face skewed at horrid angles,
The man fell on his knees,
The sky turned pale,
As I stepped toward the separate pair,
One beyond,
The other lost.
Her legs locked, toes curled,
Elbows close at her sides,
Spine warped unnaturally all around,
Even her hair would not move,
Hair about her head sticky with blood,
The deep open gashes,
Blood so cold with a fear,
That is refused to scurry from its skin case to the grass.
I wrapped a kind hand over his sight and closed my own eyes.
My other arm acrosst his breast to steal him from the scenes lies,
Demons black and ugly float about this place,
So this man I must take.
'My soul is dead' he whispered silently in his mind,
'No soul is dead my friend' I comforted and turned him round,
'Then what has happened to mine?' He asked in despair,
'Love' I told him,
'Then never again can I care' his voice shook,
'But you will dare',
'Because you must learn to be free to care'
'That is how you heal' I said and he cried.
Out in this open field we find a tree so we can kneel,
So we can rest,
So we can cry,
Together.
'I hate having to care' he wept solemnly,
I rubbed his back as he hunched over and sobbed, flat on his knees, smashing the ground.
Angry was his mind,
Cracked was his soul,
But with years to come,
He could find the stitches and the needle, to shut the wound,
He could find a doctor to help him do it,
The stars came,
And the stars danced with the new soul they had gained,
'Look up at the sky' I said,
Greens, blues, and bright pinks flew free about the Heavens,
Streaking without bounds,
Without limit or chains,
No laws do they follow,
They know pain and sorrow,
But still they refuse to miss a dance recital,
In his deep eyes they played on,
And his face fell slack,
And he was relaxed.
He fell but I slowly lowered him to the ground for a soul mending sleep,
Beneath the great above.
Away, away,
I must go away,
I cannot stay,
A note I will leave as my mark,
Beside his weary head it will lay,
But off to a stark,
Away must I go.
Now I find one in a room so dark,
Chain bound, metal they clank,
Lifted her head with spiritless eyes so dank,
I sat at her lonely side,
Where there was nothing else in sight.
'I am broken' she informed me, and I nodded,
'That's okay dear child',
And so I held her tight,
But no tears had she left,
For they had already scarred her face,
The chains had marred her skin and I covered her in lace,
Naked she was, so clothed her I did,
Shivers passed through her,
'Let us find the light' I suggested peacefully with warmth,
'There is a light?' A spark in those eyes passed,
'There is always a light' and so I stood and took her upon my sturdy warm back,
'How do we find it? Where is it?' She was weary and lost,
'We search until we see it but I will help you out no matter how long it takes'
Then she was silent and years it took before we could escape.
The rays faded her chains, they melted in the heat of the sun,
'See the horizon?' I pointed and smiled,
'What is that?' She wondered,
'That is the sun, and it is setting, we call it a sunset' I taught her and she learned,
'I think I love sunsets' she decided and then I put her to bed in a safe place for the night,
Those scars will never fade,
But they will prove her strength.
Away, away,
Away I must go,
So again a note I left by her head,
To tell her I was real and there,
Her hair now so fair.
