Jax woke up and immediately choked on the tube in his throat, and ripped it out of his mouth gasping for air. He looked down and saw he was wearing all white. When he looked around he saw the walls were white and the lights were dim. There were flowers on his bedside table, they were purple and they faded into a pastel pink. They were like the ones in the Dalmascan Fields.
He saw a girl holding his hand asleep in a chair next to him. She smelled amazing, she looked familiar. She wasn't facing him so he continued to look around the room. The door was around the corner, he couldn't see it. The window had an amazing view of the ocean, it was cloudy today.
The girl moved and then sat up and looked at him with a grin, "You're awake!"
He knew that voice but she was dead so it couldn't be Ember. Then he remembered he was dead.
"E-Ember..?" Jax could hardly talk, he squeaked out her name but didn't recognise his voice as his own.
She nodded with a smile, "Jax we aren't dead. We were stuck in that world. I waited and waited for you to die in that game so I could kill you here." She laughed and laughed then pulled something sharp out of her bag. He was going to actually die.
She lunged at him but there was a loud bang and then she fell on the floor with blood coming from her head, she was dead.
He looked around with fear in his eyes and then saw his brother, Atlas.
"Hey little brother." He said in his low voice that sent chills down his spine, it has been years since he saw him. Jax just assumed that he'd never see his brother again but here he was standing right in front of him. Atlas had a small bag in his hands and threw it on the bed, clothes spilling out far to small for Atlas.
Jax attempts to stand and gets caught by his brother as he fell, "You may be excited but this is the first time you've used your legs. Sit down and I'll explain what's happening."
Jax sits down shakily and looks at his brother waiting for his explanation on what was happening, Atlas took a breath and spoke.
"The world we lived in isn't real, it was a game. Most people are put into the game as an infant to live one life and when we die we wake up, none of that was real. Your thirst for revenge was in a game, your heartbreak was in a game, It was all a game for the government to watch and laugh at. You were their favorite to watch."
