Aiden's POV
It's Sunday morning. At last. The Lord's day of rest. Perhaps Ella has calmed down a little. I was a little hesitant last night in sleeping in the same bed as her in case she killed me in my sleep. But since I woke up, still alive and breathing, shows she must have been OK with it.
But then again, when I stood at the edge of the bed, she just rolled her eyes at me while clambering in. She looked at me, crossing her arms. Giving me a look that said, "well are you just going to stand there or are you getting in?" She scared me sometimes with her moods. But it just makes me want her more.
I rolled over to see her. My eyes widened in shock. How? Why? WHERE IS SHE?! I threw the sheets off me, quickly getting to my feet, checking the room and the bathroom before noticing a note was on the bedside table.
I picked it up, worry was creeping all over me and I was panicking. I unfolded the slip of paper.
Aiden,
I'm sorry. I truly am. I hope someday you will forgive me for this. But I needed to see my family. I didn't want to hurt you like this, but I think that's only because of the mate-pull. But I need to see my family again. Perhaps there was a mix-up with the fate's huh? There is no way I could be your mate and you know exactly why. Please don't come looking for me. You're probably worried sick about me right now. Please don't come looking for me.
Ella
My Ella. Has left. Gone. My world. My life. My reason for existing. How can I live without her. I know she told me not to come looking for her, but screw it. I am not giving up on her. She doesn't know what lies upon those woods unlike I do. She doesn't know her way back home.
She's a smart girl Aiden, she'll keep going straight. She knows how to climb a tree when she's in trouble and she can run like lightening for a human. I tried to reassure myself. But I am NOT going to sit here like some idiot wishing he could have done something if she got hurt. There was one thing I could do right now to make sure if she is OK.
I closed my eyes and began to focus, thinking of her. If she was far it would take a while to feel what she was feeling. I hadn't heard her call my name. Either she isn't in that much danger or... No. I refuse to think such things.
A few minutes must have passed but I soon felt her. I felt like I had just astral projected to her. She was running. Her hair flowing out behind her. Fear. She's scared. She keeps looking back behind her. The house is just a few kilometres behind her and she can still see it in the distance.
She's running away. From here. From them. From us. From me. Aiden. Aiden. Aiden. I must go back. Aiden. No Ella, get a fucking grip. Calm down. You don't know what they will do if they got you back in their clutches. Just go home. To your dad. And brother. Tell them you love them and that you know everything and that you know something they don't. YOU HAVE TO GO HOME. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. Help me.
Her heart is racing abnormally fast, her vision is beginning to blur. If she thinks I'm not going to help her then she's very clearly wrong. I didn't care I was still in my boxers. Either way they are going to be non-existent and just pieces of fabric when I get outside.I ran to the door, throwing it open, not bothering to shut it behind me like I usually do. I sprinted down the stairs heading straight for the door. People stopped and turned. They called out to me but I can't stop. It's Ella. My Ella. She needs me, no matter how much she denies it to herself.
I could feel my heart beating faster and harder like hers, my eyes going blurry. This is how I shift. My bones moving, cracking, transforming. My boxers, now only ripped pieces, flew to the floor as I made my way as fast as I could.
