The Wings On My Back

Chapter 11

     I Am filled with anger. I could probably choke the life out of Ash. It feels like somebody just punched me in the gut. I can't breath or think all I do is jump at Ash. My hands around his throat. Then a sharp pain in the back of my head. Black everything is black.

When I wake up i'm in the bed again, Alex lays next to me this time. Then I realize his eyes are open he is staring at me with those hypnotizing eyes. Then I feel my head throbbing.

"I had to do it" I hear Alex say.

"Do what"

"Knock you out with a brick" He says "You would've killed him"

"That was the point Alex" I snap at Alex. I see the fear in his eyes. I'm scared to but for, Alex the mortal amongst us creatures that could end him in a second. I wrap my arms around him and hug him.

"I'm sorry" I say with tears "I just feel betrayed by Ash' speaking of Ash where is he."

"I don't know" I start to feel my stomach knot up "He left those swords and the bow here and told me to give them to you when you wake"

I look at the two crimson swords and the sea blue bow that lay at the foot of the bed. I crawl to the end of the bed and grabbed the swords and look closer to see something carved into one of the handle.

It was from my father, I feel the tears stream down my face. Then I feel Alex's arms around me. I hug him back breaking the space that has been there so long. Suddenly my lips are on his. This kiss takes the pain away, I feel nothing now I never want it to end. Sadly it ends when we hear what sounded like a gunshot. We both run outside to see a tree on the ground. It's not Ash we walk closer to it my hands on both swords even though i've never used one. Something is in the woods around us. The demonic laughter tells me its not good.

I see the yellow glow of eyes surrounding us. Were back to back me sword in hand and him and club like branch he broke off the fallen tree.

"Well well well, lookie lookie what we've got here" a familiar voice says. Then I realize it was Tiye.

"What do you want tiye" I snap at flash the sword around trying to make it seem like I know what I'm doing.

"Well it's not what I want it's what my boss and us other tolls want" She says in a devilish way. So my Best friends girlfriend is a troll. I always thought she had a something to hide. Besides I never did like her.

One of the tolls move in closer to Alex. She starts looking at him from every angle.

"The mortal is kinda cute" the she-troll said "before we kill them I have plans for him"

I feel the anger deep in my gut. When I look at tiye she sees it.

"Oooooh might want to back off Teresa that's, Scarlet's man"

Suddenly the troll Teresa snatches the club out of Alex's hands. She grabs him by the neck and pulls out a small blade. She places it and his neck as to slice it. It makes me flinch a little. Teresa pulls away slowly from the little circle they made around us. She ties him up next to a tree and rejoins the circle. I am surrounded by trolls.

"Oh by the way we're not going to kill you oh no,our boss wants that honor" Tiey says with a mischievous grin. Then out of nowhere a net made from chain is on me. I can't get myself free, they slowly close in on me. Out of nowhere Alex tackles one of the trolls and stabs him in the neck. Teresa makes a jump for him but is stabbed in the gut by him. He has their silver blood on his hands. The rest run into the woods, cowards.

Alex takes the net off me and helps me up. He hugs me so tight I can't breath. The silver blood on his hands winds up on my coat. I don't care though the trolls are gone and me and Alex are safe.

"How did you get untied" I ask squeezing him in my arms

"Your never going to believe this but i was sitting there next to the tree then out of nowhere a knife landed in the dirt next to me" He says with excitement. I didn't believe him at first but his eyes say otherwise. And then i realized it was Ash. As soon as i figure it out, he Starts walking up to us. Alex grabs my arm as anger fills my veins.

"Thank you." Alex says.

"No problem, We need to get on the move." Ash says as he starts to head in the other direction.

"Um, your not going anywhere." I yell trying to keep my eyes normal. 

"Why not?" He ask like he doesn't know what i'm talking about.

"Um maybe because you helped kidnap my father!" The anger rising in my voice, Alex keeps hold of my arm.

"I did it to save you and mom and ember." He says with snap " They said they were going to kill you if I didn't do it but now I have to help save dad and protect you."

I look at him trying to find the truth but I don't know who to trust anymore. My gut tells me to listen but Alex's eyes say don't. I chose to listen to him and i'm am probably going to regret it. I hand Ash the map. Alex lets go of my arm in disappointment.

"So where did they take him?" I ask Ash looking at him with a glare.

"You won't like the way" He says looking down.

"Just tell us." Anger picks at my voice.

"They took him to their home on an island in the middle of.... Lake Siren."
