What if Future Rogue didn't go back to his time along with the dragons? What if something, or someone, kept him in the present? What if that someone, was the one you would least expect it to be?
Lucy
It has been about two weeks since they had won the fight against Future Rogue and the dragons and gotten back to Fairy Tail, and Lucy had been getting the feeling of being watched. Nothing has happened so she decided maybe it's just the paranoia of watching her future self die. Even when she tried to ignore it though, it was there, haunting her. It didn't feel hostile so she didn't say anything to anyone. But still it creeped her the hell out.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Erza call for her, "Lucy, we will be leaving in 20 minutes for our mission!"
Lucy responded, "Alright!"
Time Skip
Lucy looked out the window of the train, watching the trees go by, while listening to the not-so-peaceful sounds of Natsu trying not to throw up. She still felt like she was being watched, it sent a shiver down her spine. This didn't go unnoticed by Gray as he asked, "What's wrong Lucy?"
Lucy looked at Gray trying to hide her dilemma and says, "Uh, nothing. I'm just...kinda cold."
Gray just nodded and got into a more comfortable position before laying his head back and trying to sleep. The train ride was going to take longer than two hours after all. Lucy let out a quiet sigh and turned back to looking out the window. As she watched trees go by she started to drift off.
Future Rogue
He watched from his shadow on the ceiling as her breathing evened out and her lips parted slightly as she fell asleep. Never in a million years had he thought he would be stalking Lucy Heartfilia of Fairy Tail. He still didn't know why he was doing it. He should be watching his present self, to make sure he didn't get himself killed. Although now that he thought about it he didn't feel like he was "connected" to his present self anymore. He used to be able to feel where his present self was, now he couldn't. Almost as if he was his own person now. Is that even possible? He thought to himself.
He guessed it wasn't IM-possible, per say. Especially considering he only felt a pull towards his time, after the Eclipse gate was destroyed, for a couple seconds before it just stopped.
After getting over the initial shock of still being in the present, he started traveling around in his shadow form in case he was to cross paths with someone that would recognize him. He had watched the party that the King threw for all the guilds' help in the fight. I'm still here dipshits. He thought with a scoff as he watched them converse about each of their encounters with the dragons they fought.
He was watching the brawl that had started with a smirk. How it had started, he had no idea, but he found it quite amusing. His red eye shot to the left as he saw a flash of blonde dodge an incoming table that came at her from across the room as she tried to enjoy her strawberry milkshake in piece. He watched as she shot her head back up and whipped her head around glaring and looking for the one that had launched the giant object her way.
Something inside him was drawn to the celestial Mage all of sudden. He didn't know what it was and he wanted to figure it out. So he started watching her. He asked himself many times just "what the fuck" he was doing. He tried to kill her for Mavis' sake! He knew it wasn't a guilty conscience, considering many times he could have helped her in a battle and he didn't.
As he watched her though, he began to notice that everyone in Fairy Tail pretty much adored the Celestial Mage. Especially her team. They were the most over protective bunch he had ever seen when it came to Lucy. He couldn't help but think why everyone was so attached to the girl. Her looks? He would admit she was attractive, but that had nothing to do with anything when the females adored the blonde girl just as much, if not, more so than any of the males in the guild. Aside from her partner, the fire dragon slayer. Her magic? Nah that wasn't it. She was the only celestial Mage in the guild, and one of the only ones left in existence, but there were many mages with rare magic in the guild. So what was it that made everyone so attached to her?
