Tricity (said like Felicity)
Kamalas (ka-mall-us)There stood a dragon that resembled the night sky itself. Its eyes even being a golden yellow, like a full moon on a clear starry night.
All three beings stare at each other for a moment before the dragon snaps out of its shock and speaks in a feminine but demanding voice, "What are a couple of humans doing in my cave? No humans ever come this far into the forest, let alone a dark cave such as mine."
Lucy speaks first with an unsure tone, "Ah, we were looking for you?"
The dragon bared it's teeth slightly and said, "And what business do you have with me?"
Rogue finally speaks up in a calm tone, "We are here to see why you are flying over the town of Hargeon every night. And if you are a possible threat to the people that live there."
The dragon raises its head proudly and says, "I have no desire to harm humans. In regard to your first question, it is because I only eat saltwater fish. I usually live closer to the sea but," the dragon moves to the side and reveals a large fluorescent purple egg, "I have this egg to look after, and it's much safer inland."
Both mages stare at the egg in awe before turning back to the dragon. The dragon eyes the mages up and down for a minute, lingering a little longer on the blonde. She squints her golden eyes and slowly creeps closer to the two as she inquires to the blonde, "Are you perhaps Lucy Heartfilia?"
Said girl unconsciously took a step back and to the right so half of her body was behind Rogue and stuttered, "Y-yes."
The dragon stood up straighter and said, "My apologies. You are far more beautiful than the Spirit King described."
At this point the celestial mage was standing back in the open and asked, "Spirit King? Why would the Spirit King describe me to you?"
The dragon sat back on her hind legs and placed her right claw on her chest and said, "Simple. I am Tricity the Drake of the Stars, therefore, I have access to the Spirit World."
Lucy's mouth dropped open while Rogue nodded and realized, "So that's why you didn't quite smell like a dragon. You're a sort of sub-species."
Tricity nodded and continued her explanation, "I was pregnant with what will be the last drake in this world. I traveled to the Spirit World to ask the King if there were any worthy Celestial Mages at the moment that would be the best person to take care of it when it hatches. And he suggested you, and after telling me who you were and where I could find you I paid that old woman to make a request to your guild."
Both mages take in this explanation before the white shadow dragon slayer wonders aloud, "Wait, why can't you take care of it?"
The drake responds as if it was obvious, "For drakes, after we have our egg and it hatches we die. Usually a female that hasn't had an egg yet will look after the baby drake, but since this egg will be the last one I decided to choose a worthy human to care for it."
Lucy pointed to herself and exclaims, "So you want me to take care of it? I don't have the slightest idea of how to take care of a baby drake."
Tricity calms down the blonde by saying, "That's why I've asked you here now. We have a few days before the egg hatches, and in that time I will tell you everything you will need to know about raising it."
Both mages nodded in understanding and watched as the female drake walked over to her egg and curled around it. She patted the spot next to her with a claw and said, "Come sit. You must be tired from your long journey to find me."
