ashton pov.

after;

1 year later

It has been exactly a year since Empire left me. Luke and Lillian were taking me to the cemetery today to visit her grave.

We arrived at the graveyard around 11:30. It was sunny out.

They let me go ahead alone, with a bouquet of white roses, her favorite.

I kneeled down, setting the roses on her grave.

'Empire Matthews

Loving best friend, girlfriend, daughter, and sister.

May 17th, 1994- June 11th 2014.'

"Hey, Em. How are you? You know, I've missed you. Lots. Luke tried to learn how to cook so he could make some of the things you made me. He's got the banana bread down." I smiled to myself, remembering the first time Empire tried to make the simple treat.

"Anyways, Em. You'd be proud of me. They boys and I started a band, like we always talked about. We're playing gigs."

I sat for a while.

"Anyways, Em. I love you a lot. I hope your lighting up everybody's day up there, just don't cause too much trouble. I love you."

I laid the roses down, and stood up. Turning around, I saw a girl with wavy blonde hair standing very close behind me.

I jumped a bit

"Can I help you?"

She her eyes snapped up, and looked at me.

"Oh, hi. Sorry. I just was visiting my boyfriend. Ex boyfriend? Boyfriend." She pointed to a grave next to Empires.

"Sorry for your loss, how did he die?"

"Car accident. What about you, who are you visiting?"

"Girlfriend."

"I'm sorry, how'd she die?"

"She killed herself."

The girl frowned slightly.

"She's in a better place. I'm Rose."

"Ashton."

"Well, ashton. Today is a very sad day for me, considering my boyfriend died on this day last year. Judging by her gravestone, she also died this day last you. Would you like to get some coffe together, cheer ourselves up a bit?"

My automatic response is usually no, but something about this girl made me stop.

"Yeah. Yeah. I'd like that."

"Great." She smiled.

We were soon walking out of the cemetery, and up to Luke's car.

"Luke! This is Rose. I'm going to get coffee with her. Don't wait up." Luke smiled at me, and I nodded my head. Rose and I soon arrived at a small coffee shop, and sat down.

After about three hours and four cups of coffee, Rose and I decided it was time to leave. We walked out of the shop, just as it started drizzling. It soon began pouring, buckets of water coming down on us. Rose and I looked up, a bit dumbfounded because it was just sunny out.

"Well, shit." Rose looked up at me, chuckling just a bit.

"Tell you what, I live just down the road. Let's run to mine and you can hang around for a bit, does that sound okay?" This was hugely abnormal, for me to invite a girl home, let alone talk to one for this long.

"Alright." She smiled, and reached down to take my hand. I tensed a bit, but soon relaxed.

"Ready?"

"Yeah."

We took off running, with the rain still gushing down around us.
