We were finally in line and ready to pay for everything we had gotten for the party. I was just reaching for my wallet to pay when Ethan practically punched be in the shoulder.

"Dude, what?" I asked, following his gaze to the other side of the aisle. Over the top of people's heads I saw it- a Dory piñata.

It was the absolute scariest thing I'd ever seen, with giant eyes and some of the colored paper falling off onto the floor. We should totally get it.

We needed to get it.

"You stay here and save our spot while I go grab it." I told Ethan, passing off the shopping bags to him before running off.

Ethan's POV:

I scooted up far enough in line that the cashier placed a divider between the other person and my stuff. (Y/n) really needed to hurry up, before it got to our turn to pay.

Sweat was rolling down my face and pooling on the floor tiles as the person in line said goodbye to the cashier and left with their groceries, leaving me to inch forward to be served.

"Hey, How're you?" The cashier guy made small talk, swiping the five goodie bags quicker than I thought humanly possible and moving on to all the Eggo waffles. I was going to open a portal to hell and fall in if (Y/n) didn't get back in time.

As soon as the last item was swiped, the cashier spoke up;

"Alright, that'll be $18.24." He said, looking expectantly. 'Well, to hell I go.' I thought.

But finally a hand reached around to place two more items on the belt.

"Sorry, could you add these two things as well?" (Y/n) asked sweetly, flashing an apologetic smile at the cashier. He nodded and swiped what (Y/n) had brought- the nightmare-inducing Dory piñata and a giant box of Otter Pops we had seen earlier.

"Sorry it took so long, I was grabbing those." (Y/n) explained, pointing at the Otter Pops.

Understandable.

Your POV:

It was finally time for the surprise party, and Ethan and I had only two hours to set up before everyone else got here.

"Alright, I texted Jaiden and told her we're just gonna stay at the hotel instead of heading back." I told Ethan, while unpacking all the things we had bought. Ethan was sitting on the kitchen counter, swinging his legs back and forth. "I also mentioned that she should bring Mark and Tyler to our room instead of theirs."

"Very subtle." Ethan laughed, "Did she ask why?"

"Surprisingly no." I shrugged. "But I'm not complaining. Now, let's get to work!"

For the next good part of an hour, Ethan and I worked on getting the party set up in the hotel room. The goodie bags were set off to the side on the table, the Otter Pops went in the hotel fridge, and since there was no room left the waffles were just on the counter. As for the piñata...

"Uhhh, (Y/n)?" Ethan asked, stacking the waffles into a pyramid. "We didn't buy anything to put in the piñata..."

"Are you telling me they don't come filled with candy already?"

"What? No."

"Wow, no wonder it was so light."

I glanced at the clock- we had roughly fifteen minutes before the gang got here. Think, (Y/n), think...

My gaze drifted over from the nightmare Dory to the pyramid of waffles near the fridge, and a smile fell on my face. Time to stuff a piñata.
