"Your majesty! Your majesty!"
The call came from a frantic sounding voice from outside the throne platform. It was almost too hard to hear from the howling winds of the storm that surrounded the Royal Island. Due to the barrier around the island, the storm couldn't actually reach the land itself. The Queen spied a few dragons heading out with buckets in their talons to gather rain water in order to nourish the valley below. The Queen turned her head and to focus her yellow eyes on the messenger that tumbled in. The guards, though looking a little hesitant, sprang up and pointed their spears at the CloudWing.
"No! Please! I come with a warning! I'm just the messenger!" the messenger pleaded, covering his head with his wings and talons.
"He's no threat," the Queen growled before turning to address the messenger. "Speak,"
"Th-the scouts from the west have reported s-sightings o-of the previous r-royals," the messenger stammered.
"So? They are no threat. It's my throne, and they cannot take it from me," the Queen snapped.
"W-Well... Th-the thing is, your Majesty-"
"Quite your stuttering and get to the point!" the Queen roared, flaring her wings out.
"Ah! Sorry!" the messenger squeaked. "Reports state that a Black CloudWing is with them! As well as an IceWing made of ice!"
"What?" the Queen sprang to her feet. "Blind as bats they are, then! I made sure that blasted El-Xion as well as his mate were killed!"
"S-Some also reported seeing..." the messenger gulped. "The last queen... Her ghost..."
"Rubbish!" the Queen snarled. "Get this liar out of my sight! Tear his wings apart to show him a taste to what happens when someone lies to me,"
"No! NO!" the messenger cried and turned, leaping off the edge of the platform and flying away as fast as he could with two guards giving chase. The Queen growled and shook herself, glad to see that that was over.
"Your majesty... Downpour," a hoarse voice called from the base of the throne. The Queen turned to see her dull red SkyWing companion looking up at her with her scarred face. "Was that a good call? He said there was a warning. If these sightings prove true-"
"Silence, Summit," Downpour swiped her tail to slap Summit across the face. "You know not to call me by my name! Anyway, these sightings are just because of the storm. There is no way those worms are alive,"
"Your majesty, I implore you to at least see what these scouts are claiming," Summit suggested. "Even if these sightings are not of the past royals, it can be believed that they might've seen some dragons. A resistance may be forming, so it would be best if you went ahead of them to find out everything you can,"
"Normally I would behead you," Downpour sighed. "But you make a good point. You said you were the cousin to a SkyWing Princess, correct?"
"Yes, I was," Summit replied. "Back in the Sky Kingdom, any kind of threat was examined greatly and snuffed out. That's why we get rid of out animus and Fireborns. Blah. We used to kill them until that Pyrrhian Capital announced that Equal Dragon Pact..."
"Well, if we are to become strong again, we might as well follow the example of the stronger of the two sky dragon species," Downpour said, standing and hoping off of her throne. "The SkyWings beat us because they were stronger. Well, we shall become strong as well. This tribe has gone too soft for too long, after all,"
