Two days passed since Fog tricked the island into thinking he ran away. He and Pulsar and Cloud kept low for a while after the whole fiasco with Frost. They discussed, mostly, the uses of Fog's enchanted scroll.
They came up with many ideas that Fog kept in mind in case he needed them for later, though he made sure to keep them from looking at his recent spells. He needed them to be secret for a reason. Even from his friends. And Pulsar.
Fog shook his head and covered his eyes with his hulking NightWing form talons, trying to push away the aching pain in his gut when he thought about what his plans might do to Pulsar.
I need to keep her safe. Said the part of Fog's mind that he wanted to claw to shreds. But I need to do this. Maybe I can shift a few things around to make sure she gets out of this alive. I already...
The sounds of bells ringing in the distance jolted Fog out of his thoughts. He looked to the bright blue sky, watching for any flying dragons, then checked the cliffs and grounds of the area around him. He spotted Pulsar by the apple orchard he met her in, chatting with another dragon. He felt a small flutter in his heart before he turned away and took to the air.
Fog flew close to the ocean's surface, skimming the water with a talon as he flew farther and farther away from the Royal Island. He looked down at his reflection in the water, staring at the unfamiliar NightWing face he was gazing upon. That strange heavy feeling began weighing in his stomach again as he remembered what he was doing. Fog was still unsure what this feeling was, but he hated it and wished for it to vanish. He wondered for a moment if enchanting it away with his scroll would be worth it. He touched the pouch his scroll was in. He was taking it in case he needed to make any quick enchantments. He hoped that wouldn't be the case.
Checking behind him, the CloudWing prince noted that the Royal Island was shrinking on the horizon. Checking ahead, he caught sight of his destination. A small island decorated with an ancient, but well kept, castle-like structure. The Mega Moon Temple.
Fog remembered the tale of the place as he banked in the air to rise above the castle's turrets, orbiting the island to examine it. The Mega Moon Temple was the first palace the CloudWings had when they arrived at the archipelago, the kingdom situated deep in an extensive underground cavern that was carved out and built to resemble a palace. Fog wondered what was in the temple, and if he could use anything within.
The disguised cloudborn landed on the soft grass of the land, staring up at the giant stone doors that were currently closed. He recalled the tales he read of how Blizzard and her friends had entered here for shelter and wondered if Blizzard would know what was inside.
But Fog had no idea how to open the doors, thought he quickly found clues in the inscriptions. Two large CloudWings with crowns on their heads were breathing their cloud breath on the doors, so Fog concluded that Royal CloudWings would be able to open the doors. Just as Fog was about to remove his tail bangle to find out, something, someone, tackled him from the side.
Fog's mind quickly switched from curiosity to survival, his head whipping around and roaring out as he unleashed a cone of fire at his attacker. He heard a screech of surprise from his attacker, and the weight on his side jumped away. Immediately, Fog pounced and found himself pinning down a dull red SkyWing. The same SkyWing he had encountered when he snuck into the Treasury.
"Summit, I presume?" Fog growled, staring at Summit's scarred face and broken horns. Summit's orange eyes were wide, and Fog could sense a lack of sanity in the dragon. Her eyes were unfocused and crazed as she growled. Smoke billowed out of her nose.
