“Lilly, oh god!” halfway through the party I was manically dancing with Fred when Hermione grabbed my upper arm rather tightly and started pulling me away.

“What-” I started to ask as I towed Fred along with us but she cut me off.

“Just hurry up” she hissed and finally stopped once we reached the end of the room and hid behind one of the drapes. “He keeps trying to grab me!”

“Who?”

“Cormac” she sighed “I thought he’d annoy Ron the most but he can’t seem to be able to keep his hands to himself! Oh no!” I looked across the room and saw Cormac McClaggen heading this way.

“Want me to distract him?” Fred offered causing Hermione to nod vigorously as begged him with her eyes  “fine but you did bring this on yourself so you owe me one.” And he left, swaggering toward McClaggen. “Cormac! Buddy! How are you?” I heard him shout as he grabbed the startled boy and all but hurled him in the opposite direction.

“He’s right you know” I stated, looking back at Hermione “you just had to ask Cormac, didn’t you?”

He asked me” she grimaced “I only said yes.”

“Either way, it’s your fault; you know what he’s like!”

“I know, I know” Hermione groaned “I won’t do it again; consider this a lesson learned.”

Smiling, I said “go on then, quickly, whilst he’s not looking.” Fred has somehow convinced Cormac that dancing with him was going to be a good idea; Cormac was proven quickly wrong as he bowled into the food table and landing, head first, in a big chocolate cake.

Hermione then left quickly whilst people were still distracted by McClaggen and the chocolate cake.

“Who tossed McClaggen into the cake?” Harry asked, appearing beside me.

“Fred” I smiled, cocking my head to one side watching my boyfriend as he danced around the collapsed table, laughing at Cormac rather than helping him, and chuckled to myself as I realised that this was the Fred I’d fallen in love with; the immature, hilarious, downright comical boy who should send me running in the opposite direction but, actually, I’d never felt prouder.

“Oh” Harry nodded “cool; anyways, I’m off. I’ve lost Luna so I’m going to head off to bed; if you see her can you just tell her I couldn’t find her and left?”

“Sure” I nodded and gave a small wave as he left.

“Well” Fred panted as he finally returned and stared at the chaos Slughorn was now trying to control. What seemed like everyone in the room had now dived into the chocolate cake and, if they weren’t eating it, they were throwing it. “Maybe we should call it a night?”
