Hermione contacted the DA using the fake galleons she’d created last year and set up a group of people to patrol each floor. I was patrolling the ground floor with Hermione, Ron, Neville and Cho until, when I was standing near the doorway to the dungeons, I was grabbed.

Someone slapped a hand over my mouth as I was dragged from the entrance hall and down in to the dungeons. I wasn’t released until me and my kidnapper were in a dark room.

“Lumos” a familiar voice said and I turned around to see that my kidnapper was my dad.

“Dad?” I frowned “what’s going on; why did you do that?”

“I had to get you away from your friends” he replied “it’s happening, Lilly; with Dumbledore away a few of the death eaters have found a way to penetrate the castle and are on their way now.”

“Today?” I whispered.

He nodded “I don’t know the entire plan; they can be unpredictable but, the one thing that I do know is that, Dumbledore is going to die tonight.”

My entire body went numb; I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting my reaction to be but it most certainly wasn’t nothing…which is what I was doing. It’s like my mind had gone to sleep and I couldn’t think.  “How?” I managed to say.

“Malfoy” Dad replied “he’s been spending the year trying to fix the broken cabinet in the room of requirement.”

“The vanishing cabinet?”

He nodded “he finally fixed it; I felt the signal go out not three hours ago. It is one of two; its sister is residing in a shop in knockturn alley and that’s how they’re going to get in.”

“Then I need to tell them to stay on the seventh floor!” I blurted, even though I knew that Ginny and the majority of the DA were stationed outside the room of requirement.

“You’re telling nobody anything” dad replied “please understand that what I’m about to do is for your own good, because I love you and, for Merlin’s sake, do not come back tonight!” He then shoved me hard before I could ask him what the heck he was talking about.

I didn’t even realise what he was doing until green flames had engulfed me and I was experiencing that familiar feeling of going down a slide until I shot out the other end and hit something hard. “Ouch, you son of a-”

“Who’s there?” A voice called as I got to my feet, rubbing my head.

“Don’t shoot!” I called back, putting my hands in the air like they do in muggle police shows.

“Shoot? Lil, is that you?” The lights flicked on and I saw Fred framed in the doorway with his wand pointed at me. “What are you doing here and what would I shoot you with?”

“Doesn’t matter” I replied “and my dad put me here; he shoved me into the fire.”
