We all stood around Ron’s bed in the hospital wing and just stared. He looked awful; pale, clammy and…well…dead. The Matron assured us that he’d be fine though.

“What happened?” I asked Harry.

“Ron ate some chocolates I’d been given for Valentine’s Day but they’d been laced with love potion so I took him to Slughorn” he replied “Slughorn managed to make up an antidote but then he offered us a drink and it must have been laced with poison because, the next thing I know, Ron’s choking.”

“How did you save him?” Hermione asked, stroking Ron’s hand.

“Shoved a bezoar down his throat and then got him here.”

Lavender than burst into the hospital wing looking frantic. “How is he?” She asked when she saw us and hurried over “has he been asking for me?”

“He’s out cold” I told her impatiently “so no.”

“Well, I’m here now” she replied “I’ll take care of him” and she all but pushed Hermione out of the chair and sat down, taking Ron’s hand and whispering to him.

I looked at Hermione who looked rather hurt but she said nothing more than “I’m going to finish Flitwick’s essay” before leaving.

“Why did you do that?” I asked Lavender in annoyance “Hermione and Ron have been friends since our first year!”

She scoffed “friends? Seriously! She’s been nothing more than a memory to him for months!”

“Yeah, because you’re horrible to her every time she and Ron are together!” I snapped “I never took you to be the jealous type but then I suppose that you do have a valid reason.”

“And what’s that supposed to mean?” She asked, narrowing her eyes at me. I said nothing more as I gave her my best smile and followed after Hermione with Lavender shouting after me. “What’s that supposed to mean?!”

Ron wasn’t in the hospital wing for too long and Harry was considered a Hero for saving him but things between Ron and Lavender had become even more strained and he took every opportunity he had, avoiding her which meant that his and Hermione’s relationship was finally becoming strong again. “Why don’t you just dump her?” I asked Ron after the fifth time he’d ducked behind me and Harry to avoid Lavender seeing him “she keeps coming up to me, asking for you and, even though I don’t like her, I’m not going to continue lying to her because you can’t be bothered to man up and do the right thing.”

“Miss Snape!” A little voice called to me as I finished having a go at Ron. “Miss Snape?”

I looked down to see a tiny girl looking up at me; she was skinny and had hair as black as mine. “Yes?”

“Professor Snape wants to see you in his office” she told me “right away.”

“Oh, ok” I turned to my friends and shrugged “see you guys later.”
