"Thank you all for coming for revealing whom my daughter has picked to be her husband. We shall reveal at the end of the ball her choice. Please have fun and enjoy your well tonight in a celebration of the future." My mother speaks to those who came to an extremely last minute ball. All the fluffy bright colored ball gowns invade my eyes. It's clichè to wear such colors; no one wears red, so I do. Red is one of my favorite colors, it suits me and my personality.
Hours go by with dancing, conversing, engaging in uninteresting topics; but all I could think about was my future. My future as a queen, what if I am going to be locked up in Robin's castle? What if he is controlling like my mother? What if I won't be free? That's all I want, to be free. Free to make decisions for myself, that's what Robin lead me to believe I'd be able to do, but what if that doesn't happen? What if it was just a crusade to get me to merge with him?
"Why don't you go dance with your king to be?" My mother scares me.
"Because I am perfectly content with speaking to others at this moment. When I feel like I want to, I will, mother." I reply.
"Go dance with him, or there will be repercussions, daughter. Mind your place too with me." She says pushing me in the way to Robin.
I walk up to him confidently, I curtsy, "Sir Robin, would you care to dance with me?" He accepts and he whisks me onto the dance floor.
"So you've made your decision so soon, m'lady?" He ponders aloud.
"Yes I did. There was no need for furthering the week when I knew what path to choose." I say.
"We are paths?" He asks.
"Yes, each one of you would lead me into an uncertain future, like choosing a path. You don't know where you'll end up, but it'll be a journey. And each one of you would be a journey; good or bad." I explain.
"Whom did you choose?" He smiles confidently, already knowing the answer.
"Well, I guess you'll have to wait and find out, Robin." I return the smile.
"I guess I will."
We dance in silence until mother announces that she will be revealing the king I chose.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here before you to reveal my daughters choice for her hand in marriage. So without further of due, I would like to welcome King Robin to our royal family." My mother puts on her fake grin and calls Robin to her as well as me. "I give you Princess Regina that is to be wed King Robin Locksley of the Sherwood Forest. Congratulations you two. Enjoy you're night, this ball." My mother brings me into to her cold hearted hugs and same with Robin, and she finally let's us go.
I take Robin's hand and leads him to a balcony, "Why did you bring me out here, love?" He asks.
"This is my last night under her rule, and I want to enjoy it with the man who's helping me leave. I want to gaze at the stars above." I smile.
"You are free." He says walking up behind me and wrapping his arms around my body holding me, "You will do as you wish in our castle. I will not hold you there. You are a person, not a possession. Come and go as you please, I'll always be waiting for when you return. I have a huge library for your nose to be in. I have a comfortable size beach with a beach house for when you want to get away. You will be able to be whom ever you want, my love." He whispers in my which makes me smile.
"Thank you, Robin." I go to kiss his cheek but he turns his head and we kiss on the lips, "Looks like we had the same intention." I blush.
"I guess so." He grins which brings out his dimples that make me weak in the knees. He kisses my cheek and we look into the sky, gazing upon the stars that twinkle brighter than they have in a long time.
