A/N: This entire story was written when I was young and inexperienced with writing. It is the first book I've ever completed and is unedited. I will eventually go back and fix it but for now you'll be subjected to a rather boring prologue that seems more 'informational' than story telling. It is kind of important to read this prologue though in order to understand the dynamics of the rest of the book.
In the beginning of time Ra was a powerful god who created mankind out of his tears. He was the Sun God who watched over his children and created others similar to him to help them survive. He birthed Geb, the God who ruled over earth; and Nut, a Goddess that watched over mankind from the sky alongside her father. Soon Amun was conceived and he became as powerful as Ra, the Sun God, himself.
Ra and Amun combined their powers and became one, Amun-Ra. Together they manifested the Nine Deities: Ra, the Sun God, Shu, the God of air, Tefnet, the Goddess of moisture, Geb, the Earth God, Nut, the Sky Goddess, Osiris, God of the Underworld and Afterlife, Isis, The Goddess of Protection, Nepthus, Isis's daughter as well as Goddess of Protection, Horus, God of the Sky and Protectors of the rulers of Egypt, and Seth, an evil god who became jealous of all the other God's and Goddesses. Seth was jealous of his brother Osiris so he chopped him up into pieces and took over the Underworld.
During this time, a Goddess named Sekhmet, who was Ra's daughter, had gone crazy and began killing humans by drinking their blood. Ra tricked Sekhmet to drink the red beer that he put in the Nile to resemble blood and as she became drunk she no longer had the urge to destroy. When she awoke she met Ptah, whom she fell in love with and soon had two beautiful children; Mahees and Neferten. She sent her son Mahees down to Earth to protect the humans and give them guidance.
Mahees could shape shift like all the Gods and usually took on the form of a lion, like his mother. He was known by the Egyptians as many things: a warrior, an elemental god, an amazing swordsman, devouring his captives, and for his love of lotuses. What the Egyptians didn't know was he needed blood to survive, so that's why he drank deeply from his prisoners.
Sekhmet saw that her son lived in violence and solitude so she decided to create a woman for him. She found a woman with pleasant features and came to her in the middle of the night. Sekhmet made the woman drink some of her blood and than marked her shoulder with the eye of Horus. After the woman changed, the Goddess guided her to the temple her son was inhabiting. Mahees immediately fell in love with this beautiful woman, Aziza. He knew her name was the true description of her, precious.
They had many children and taught them to protect humankind from the evil that lurks in the shadows. Their children were warriors and learned how to feed on the humans but not kill them unless they've done harm to others. They had many different abilities: hypnosis, immortality, shape shifting, elemental control, superior strength and could run faster than any living thing on Earth. It was hard to keep the secret because they were constantly worshipped as God's for their great skills but they have remained hidden.
From the underworld, Seth watched as Sekhmet gained more worshippers for her children's presence on Earth. Some of her children were tainted with darkness from all the blood spilt on their hands after so many centuries filled with war, rage, and bloodshed. Seth came to many of the Goddess's tainted offspring and offered something better; a life filled with bloodshed, more strength, dark magic, and more difficult to kill. Every single tainted warrior agreed, so Seth devoured their souls in order for them to gain all the powers he promised. In the morning he discovered that his new creations couldn't go out into the sunlight because Ra aimed his deathly rays on them. Seth didn't mind, his creations were draining people to death and creating chaos, as well as providing him with more power.
The God's and Goddesses began to lose their power because humans stopped believing in them. Supernatural's began to go into hiding and secretly joined in to human society. Sekhmetians were the descendants of Sekhmet but they were split into two separate societies. The Light Brothers didn't want the Dark Guardians to taint them with their darkness and told them they should die for being defective. Both societies hunted down what humans called Vampires to not only keep their secret hidden but also to protect the fragile human race.
