"Wow this place is amazing," I said while we sat down on the grass.

Wait rewind this place was just out of town and I have never seen it before I had been this way so many times that it seemed to just appear out of thin air, so when James responded to what I said and waved a hand in my face as if to say "hello anyone home" I snapped out of my trans like state.

"Sorry I didn't quite get that"

"Yeah I kind of figured that after awhile. I said it really is and hey look over there" he pointed to just beyond the lake where three ducks were waddling in the grass the larger of the three had to be the mom and the two smaller ones her babies.

"They kind of remind me of your family" James said smiling at me with a goofy grin on his face.

"What is that supposed to mean" I ask raising a hand to place it over my chest and making my voice thick with hurt but only because I like to mess with him I was not really hurt that he said this because my family even though we get along most of the times we get even more annoyed with each other.

"I'm sorry so should not have said that" he said playing along by covering his mouth with one of his hands.

I shoved his shoulder causing him to fall over laughing. He grabbed my wrist pulling me down to.

"Hey!" I yelled laughing also.

"What its payback. Not so much fun when you're on the other end huh?

"Yeah it is just waiting to get back at them later"

"Should I be scared Lucy Michaels?"

"Yes, yes you should James Price.

Chapter seven. Just visiting.

'By the time we got back from the lake it was almost two, so we went out for lunch, then we went to the mall, when the clock went from 6:59 to 7:00 we went out for dinner'

*I knocked softly on the door*

"Hey mom, doing any better?"

I asked already knowing the anwser. Of course she wasn't doing better in fact she's getting worse, and that scares me no kid wants to lose his or her mom, no matter the age.

"I think so sweetie" she sound like she was, if I closed my eyes right now and listened to her voice I would have believed her to but you could see in her face that she was not getting better and the thought of loosing her made me sad and angry at the same time.

This is not fair my mom is only in her late thirties -she had me when I was younger- but this kind of stuff should not just happen, but one day about three weeks ago after I got home from school I found her passed out on the floor in the living room. I was frantic looking all over for a phone and dialed 911, when we got to the hospital it did not take long for the doctors to tell me that she had a massive heart attack that would he very hard and unlikely to recover from, I could not think strait for over a week. There were no signs, nothing at all she was fine until one day and when that happened my world almost fell completely apart if it was not for Lucy I don't know what I would be doing right now.

"Mom I'm so sorry"

"James would you quite saying that every time you come here, just stop it nothing is going to happen to me ok I am going to be fine do you understand that?"

I almost could have agreed with her right there and I could even tell myself that she would be fine, but what I had to remember is that it just does not work that way. I also had to remember what the doctor said; his words rang in my ears

~Flashback three weeks ago~

"Sorry son but you're mom... Well you see I doesn't look to good for her, we are giving her about five months left to live and we don't know she could have another heart attack I could be worst then the first, I'm so sorry but her conduction is easy to tell you but there is really nothing we can do"

~End of flashback~

I was so mad after he said that, I mean how could I coup with that I'm only eighteen for crying out loud my mom is my best friend she, Lucy and Lucy's parent are the only people I got.

When I looked up again my mom was asleep, not surprising she must be so tired, who am I kidding she is tired she is sick for god sakes.

Ugh I got to talk to Lucy.

~Lucy pov~

After dinner James went to see his mom, he asked me if I wanted to go but he looked really worried so I told him to go by himself and that I would talk to him later.

When I got home I found my mom and dad in the kitchen, looking very upset and distraught I might add.

"Hey what's up?" I said smiling as I walked into the kitchen.

"Lucy it's Mrs. Price she... She's dead."
