The Battle for the Dragon Flame

Chapter 6: War!

Since the night when Icy and Darcy had talked through Serina, the whole school was on high alert. Bloom and Daphne had told Ms. Faragonda what happened, and, therefore, the whole school was notified. "Leave no corner of this school unguarded" Ms. Faragonda ha said. So, every fairy was stationed at a different post at Alfea. Daphne had been placed at both the entrance to Alfea and the entrance to the school itself. She viciously guarded Alfea, with her life if she had to. But Daphne was worried about Bloom. Bloom hadn't slept in weeks. After the incident with Serina, Bloom had stayed up every night, monitoring her. Though Bloom dozed every so often, it wasn't enough to last her very long. As the days continued to go by without Bloom sleeping, she became weaker and weaker, and Daphne became more and more worried. Finally, Daphne cracked. She left her post outside Alfea and went to Bloom. When Daphne opened the door to Bloom's room, she was appalled at what she saw. The kitchen was a disaster and hadn't been cleaned in weeks and the rest of the room was in such a state of disarray, that Daphne almost had a heart attack. "Bloom!" Daphne called "Bloom! Where are you?!" Daphne searched the whole room and finally found Bloom, passed out on her bed with Serina in her crib. "Bloom!" Daphne screamed and ran to her sister. She shook her and desperately tried to wake her up but it wasn't working. Then she started screaming for help "help me! Someone, help!" she cried. Just when she thought no one would come, Stella, of all people, came running in. "Daphne I heard you yelling and- oh my gosh! Is Bloom okay?" "No Stella" Daphne started "she hasn't slept in weeks and now she's passed out and I can't wake her up." Daphne had to catch her breath "but Daphne, what if Bloom is totally fine and she is just sleeping?" Stella asked. "No that's not it Stella" Daphne wailed "Bloom is a fairly light sleeper and if she was actually sleeping, I would have woken her up by now." Stella sobered and looked Daphne straight in the eyes and said "what if she's been cursed? By Icy and Darcy." Daphne stood up and walked to Serina's crib. She picked up Serina and hugged her close. "I've got to take her home. I've got to take her to Domino, where she'll be safe. My parents can protect her." "Wouldn't it be a better idea to take her to Gardenia? To Bloom's adopted parents? Icy and Darcy have a smaller chance of finding her there." Daphne thought for a moment "but Mike and Vanessa can't protect Serina if they do show up to find her" Daphne said. "True, but it's away from Magix, Daphne. Icy and Darcy would have it easier if Serina was with Marion and Oritel. She should go to Gardenia." Daphne sighed in agreement. She knew Stella was right, but it was hard to accept that he niece had to go to complete strangers. Well, at least to Daphne. "Okay Stella" Daphne sighed "she will go to Gardenia." Stella hugged Daphne and they smiled at each other. Then they switched their focus back to Bloom. "How do we break the curse?" Daphne asked. Stella smiled slyly at Daphne and said "I have a pretty good idea how we'll break it."
