"You guys didn't tell me you both were sisters." I said, taking out my history book from my locker.
"Yeah, well, we didn't know ourselves. That was until we met in Harbridge." Laura said in defence.
"Yeah, and we're cousins." Hazel corrected.
"Please. I can't imagine Hazel as my sister, anyway." Laura said.
"Anyway. Change of topic. What're you going to do about Rebecca?" Hazel asked, her expression suddenly turning solemn.
"That's not a thing to ask. She'll obviously have to do what Rebecca says." Laura answered for me, as we all walked towards the detention room.
"No, I'm not." I said pulling a face.
Laura gave me a look.
"You know, Jennifer, you're absolutely right. You should do what your heart tells you to do." Said Hazel, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Are you nuts. Rebecca is going to actually 'crush' her!" Laura cried.
"Why are you so scared, Laura. I'm sure Jennifer will be able to handle herself. And if she can't, then we are they for her. You can always cry on my shoulder." said Hazel, revealing a smile.
I laughed.
Suddenly, a question popped up in my mind.
"Hazel, didn't you ever go through the newbie rule?" I asked.
"You think I'll ever listen to that freak?" Hazel asked with lifted eyebrows.
"Hey! You didn't have to go through that newbie rule, because you never a newbie." Laura said, boxing her cousin on the shoulder.
"Ow." Hazel rubbed her shoulder and gave Laura a dirt.
I couldn't help but smile. These two would never act like sisters.
"Yeah, I was actually never a 'newbie'. I've been with Rebecca since second grade. And that time, she was nothing more than a snitch." Hazel replied.
The bell rang, as we reached the detention room. Ms Dallas, along with a few students entered the detention room.
"Now I better get going." I finally said, pointing at the room behind me.
"Oh, yeah. Sure." said Hazel. "You want us to wait for you?"
"Oh, no that's okay. My sister is coming to pick me up, so..."
Hazel and Laura nodded their heads understandingly, and after saying our goodbyes, we parted ways.
Ms Dallas was waiting for me in the detention room. As soon as I entered, she smiled really widely. I smiled back. But her smile did not disappear and she continued to stare towards me. I smiled again too. But she still stayed in the same position.
Okay, now things were getting creepy. But I soon realised that she was staring behind me. So I turned around and almost crashed into Jeremy.
Our faces were going to touch. Panic rushed all over me.
"Oooh, easy there, Jenny Penny." Said Jeremy, holding me back in place. And I thanked the gods he did. Or else, something would've happened and I would have to walk with my head down with shame my entire life!
"What're you doing here anyway? Got detention too?" he asked, letting go of me.
I opened my mouth to give him a smart answer, but Ms Dallas beat me to it. "No, she's here for an extra History class." We both stared at her. The dreamy smile had disappeared from her face.
