I walked towards my locker. I saw Laura leaning against one of the lockers, probably waiting for me.
I smiled. I was going to say hello to her, when I saw someone else approaching her, and stopped in my tracks.
Rebecca.
Anger and hatred whirled in my stomach, lighting it on fire. I stared ahead with a frown.
The minute Rebecca stopped in front of Laura, Laura stood in attention position and looked down, as if Rebecca was someone higher than her.
They both talked for a while and I could see Laura's expression change to worry.
Suddenly, Rebecca turned in my direction and her sea blue eyes caught mine. Immediately, a smile curved her lips, as if there was something going on in her head. Then she turned around again and clapped her hands twice.
"Students of Harbridge High!" she announced. Almost everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at her curiously.
When she was sure she had everyone's attention, Rebecca walked towards me and put a hand on my shoulder.
I flinched immediately, but did not move away.
"Well Jennifer, as everyone knows, is a newbie. And newbies have a rule to follow. But Jennifer disobeyed me when I told her to do something. So I gave her another chance. But she deceived me again." Rebecca looked at me, her evil grin back on her face.
Her eyes looked back at the crowds of students. "So, now, I have no choice but to tag my....ex-friend, Jennifer, as a loser." she finished.
Some guys chuckled. Some girls gave me a sympathetic look.
Wow. This school really took this rule way too seriously.
"She will not sit with anyone, but with our other three losers, she'll be out of every discussion, and she will not have any friends." Rebecca made a pitiful face at me.
I snorted. Still won't follow her dumb rules. But this time, I decided not to say anything, but just play along. So, I nodded my head. But I still couldn't help revealing a smile.
I looked back at Laura. She couldn't meet my eye, and stood there on a side like a statue, feeling helpless. I couldn't blame her. Rebecca acted like the Regina George of Harbridge, and with the time I've spent with Laura, I knew she was shit scared from Rebecca.
By the time, I looked back at the hallways, people had already started moving for their first lesson. Nobody was surrounding me or looking at me now. Only Rebecca still stood in front of me.
She gave me a smirk. "Have fun, hon." she said, then sashayed passed me, shouldering me before going.
Oh yes we will....hon.

The bell rang for 'Break'. Everyone rushed out of class. The hallways became noisy and crowded again.
As I walked out of class, I met Hazel. I hadn't met her all morning! But before I could greet her, she said with her arm on my shoulder, "I heard what happened in the morning, Jennifer. Don't worry. Laura and I are with you."
As we walked towards the cafeteria, I said, "I don't see how that's even possible. I mean, Laura is so afraid of Rebecca....."
"Oh, my sister is like that. She's practically scared of everyone. But I'll be with you."
We both picked up trays and served food for ourselves. There was blueberry jelly. My favourite! So I took extra servings of that. Only then did I realise how watery it was. I wrinkled my nose in disgust as I stared at the liquidly mess.
