What if: Spencer and Alex

The principal's office

   Spencer sat outside of the principal's office where her parents were talking to Mr. Tortilla (Don't ask about the name, I was in Spanish class while writing this sentence.) She should be at the hospital right now, standing next to her sister and holding her hand. Sat next to her was Alison Dilaurentis. She knew Ali was the one responsible, so she told the gym teacher it was her. That backfired unfortunately. Alison denied being apart of it and told the gym teacher that it was Spencer who tried to drown her sister.

    Spencer knew that was such an inaccurate statement, why would she drown her own sister? The gym teacher didn't think about that though and took them both to the principal. So they both sat there, without a word while their parents argued with Mr. Tortilla.

Alison: I should be in study hall right now. Instead I'm dealing with this stupid (cw).

Spencer: Shut up.

Alison: What?

Spencer: Shut up! We wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for you!

Alison: Oh please. She should've learned to keep her hands to herself.

    Just then, the principal opened his office door, beckoning the two bickering girls inside.

Mr. Tortilla: So, miss Hastings, miss Dilaurentis, Your parents and I have talked and we have concluded that the both of you will have a one week suspension. Now, I don't know which one of you attempted to drown Alex Hastings, but until we do, this is how we will take the road so far. Rest assured, if I do find out that one of you did commit this hateful crime, you will be expelled.

Expelled? Spencer couldn't be expelled. She wouldn't be able to do school work or be with her sister if she was expelled.

After the talk with Mr. Tortilla, Spencer and her parents drove to the hospital to see Alex. The car ride was silent, with Mrs. Hastings taking small glances to Spencer in the backseat.

Spencer: You know I didn't do it right?

They just stayed quiet. They did know Spencer would never hurt her sister, but they couldn't tell her that. They were just upset that Alex would get herself into this mess.

Spencer: I would never hurt Alex you know that right?

Peter: We'll talk about it later.

Mr. Hastings kept his eyes on the road the remainder of their trip.

Once they arrived at the hospital, Alex's doctor had told them that had she'd been in the water any longer, she would have drowned. They went into Alex's room where she laid in the hospital bed asleep, hooked up to a ventilator.

Spencer walked over and held her sister's hand. It was her fault that Alex was like this. She wasn't watching her little sister, she was talking with some boy. It was her fault.

Spencer: I'm sorry
