What if: Spencer and Alex

A new friend

     Alex is officially home, and she's happy about that. The hospital food was terrible, but she got to see her sister. Spencer was home the whole week, spending time with Alex until her parents came home and she was told to go to bed early after dinner.

   One day the doorbell rang. Mr. Hastings answered, looking down to see a tan girl standing before him.

Peter: Hello, do you need something?

Emily: Um, I wanted to talk to Alex Hastings. Is she here?

Peter: Uh, yea.

Mr. Hastings stepped aside to let the girl in. He told her Alex was in her bed upstairs. The tan girl knocked on the bedroom door then walked in when Alex answered.

Emily: Hi.

Alex: Hey, you were the one that pulled me out of the water right?

Emily: Yea.

Alex: I saw you from across the pool. How did you move so fast?

Emily: I've always want to be an Olympic swimmer.

Alex: I saw (laugh). Thank you.

Emily: It's alright. I'm Emily.

Alex: Well, I'm sure you know I'm Alex.

Emily: Yea. Alison told me.

Alex: (Frown) Oh.

Emily: I'm not friends with her anymore.

Alex: Really?

Emily: Yea. She's a bully.

Alex: I know.

    Both girls talked and laughed, them Mr. Hastings let Spencer join the fun as well. After a while Emily had to leave, but promised she would be back for a sleepover. Tomorrow both Alex and Spencer were due back at school, so they got to bed early that night.

The next morning Alex and Spencer got on the bus to go to school. While they were sitting in their normal seat, there was chaos in the back. Alex looked behind her to a large girl being teased. She assumed it was because of her weight, as the boys taunting her were making pig noises. Alex decided to get up on walk over to the girl.

Alex: Are you okay?

Hanna: I'm fine

Kids: Oink oink oink!

    The larger girl cried even more than before and yelled at the kids to leave her alone.

Alex: Come sit with us.

Hanna: Us?

Alex: Yea, my sister and I sit together.

Hanna: Okay.

Alex: I'm Alex by the way.

Hanna: I'm Hanna.

    The two walked back to the twins seat and Hanna sat in between them, so Spencer and Alex could protect her from the bullies. When they arrived at school, Hanna went off with her other friends, but promised to come over for a sleepover. The twins had made two new friends.
