Clarence:
After I fell asleep I woke to the sound of a door opening. I looked across and it was my door. I made no sudden movements , unsure of who was behind the door.
The door opened fully and the person was the guy that put me here yesterday. In his hands he held a plate filled with way more food than the day before.
"Goodmorning." The guy says to me.I don't speak.
"You know you can talk right?"
I sit up abruptly while sitting up ruler straight .
"Of course I do. Maybe I don't want to talk. Especially to the one who kidnapped me." I declare.
"Whoa whoa whoa. Hold up. I didn;t kidnap you." he counter claims.
"So why are you here.?"
"Cause I thought I was helping a friend."
"Some friend you have."
"Mind me asking WHO is this friend?" I ask. At that point the front door slams open.
"I gotta go." the guy-who-I-still-don't-his-name whispers, shuts the door and leaves. At least he left the food.
I strain to here any conversation but it seems the guy and the other person left the house. I cross the room and grab the plate. Pancakes, bacon and eggs. If this guy was helping a friend, he sure was kind to me. And I guess he's not supposed to be doing this.
For the rest of the day I pass in front of the tv, which only has cable. All the stations are in Spanish except for our local news. I watch the news just in time to see the anchorman reporting about a missing person, I turn the volume up to listen.
Local girl: supposed to have been back at home last night, but has not showed.
A picture of me from last year-worst school picture-flashes across the screen.
"Today we have a report about a local girl who's been missing for over a day now." The news anchor says.
"Her parents report upon finding a note in Clarence's bedroom stating she was taking a vay-cay. Knowing about what has gone on in the family, they let it slide. But when Clarence was expected to be home last night and failed to show up. They worried and feared for her safety." The news guy continues the report by describing me where I was last seen, things like that.
I want to shout at them Look im right here safe and sound. At least I think! but who would here me. I shut off the tv. And sat in the couch daydreaming.
