Leo is five. Esperanza's POV

It was already a long night before Leo got sick. A massive car pile up happened just down the road from the shop, and two of the victims had to rush fix their cars. So Jose, Micheal, and I stayed an hour and a half longer than normal. Then I had come home to find Leo and his new baby sitter (I had to fire Tia; she was much to strange...), Jazzy, by the hall toilet while Leo heaved. After quickly paying and thanking Jazzy, I went to my baby. After inspection, we discovered that it's only a little stomach bug.

Now, a few hours later, we sit in Leo's lego and doodle covered room. He has (finally) stopped throwing up, and is in bed, in his favorite Batman pajamas, wrapped in his Super Mario blanket and a dozen others in a weak attempt to stop his shivering. I gave him Motrin and Tylenol, but they have not kicked in yet.

"Mommy?" He asks weakly. He only calls me that when he feels really bad. I brush his curls out of his eyes. He needs a haircut soon.

"Yes mijo?" I reply. He turns his head towards me, ever so slightly.

"Can you sing to me?" He asks. I nod.

"Of course mijo." I wrack my brain for a suitable lullaby. Duérmete Niño? No, that's about Coco coming to eat you. A la roro niño? No, my godawful mother sang that to Rosa and I. There's surely one or two...

"Ahí está la luna, Comiendo su tuna, Echando las cáscaras , En la laguna...

Allá está la luna, Comiendo aceitunas.

Yo le pedí una, No me quiso dar.

Saqué el pañuelito, Me puse a llorar." I sing softly. Now, Leo's fighting to keep his eyes open.

"Can you sing 'nother one?" He slurs. I smile, despite myself.

"Sure mijo. Arrorró mi niño, arrorró mi sol, arrorró pedazo, de mi corazón..."

AN hey guys. I'm alive! I'm really sorry if the Spanish isn't great, I just googled mexican lulabies, and looked up their translations. The translation for the first one is "There's the moon Eating his prickly pear, Throwing the peels Into the lagoon. There's the moon Eating olives. I asked her for one, She didn't want to give me any. I took out a tissue, I started to cry." and the beggining of the second is "Hush-a-bye my baby, Hush-a-bye my sun, Hush-a-bye oh piece of my heart". Again, sorry if it's not right, I'm taking German instead of Spanish as my second language.
