Annabeth is three. Fredricks POV

Annabeth is a quite intelligent child. She already builds the Lego sets meant for teenagers. She can solve riddles better and quicker than Susan or I. She can bake cookies (with my aid), and draw replicas of Degas and Picaso nicely. But the one thing that will be the death of both of us, is trying to teach her to read.

"But Daddy! The words don't make any since! They are all scrambled together and look like...like... A bunch of letters that are for incoherent sounds!" She says, with with as much exasperation as a toddler can summon. I hold back a laugh.

"You know what all the letters are, correct?" I ask her patiently. She nods. "How about their sound?" Another nod. "Try sounding out a word you see."

She points at the word crimson, in her book of colors. She begins to try. "Ka...- So...- ugh!" She says frustrated.

I look at her. This is beyond her normal frustration of being unable to do it perfectly. I study her, with her bottom lip stick out, and her eyes trying so very hard to find a solution.

"Honey, what order are the letters in?" I ask gently.

"C-I-S-R-M-N-I." She says with an unsure tone. It all clicks into place.

"And all the words are like that right?" I ask. Nod and look down. I place a hand on her shoulder. "Honey, you're very special. You have abilities that make you different. That's good. But it has problems that come with it. Reading will be one of those problems."

"But I'll be behind everyone in Preschool!" She cries with distress. I give her a small smile.

"Honey, none of those kids even know how to write their name." I tell her, and squeeze her shoulder, as she looks up at me with her big grey eyes. "You'll do just fine. Why don't you go finish your Legos?"

She nods and walks over to complete her Lego Millennium Falcon. I shake my head. Children of Athena....

AN hey y'all. I hope you like this! I feel like Annabeth would want to be the very best in all her classes. Anyway, I hope I didn't screw up the dyslexia too much, but the only slight degree of it I have is with number, not letters.

Peace y'all!
