Zach and Jack

--

Zach:

"Mom, no. Zach and I are not dating. We're friends." Your mom had FaceTime called you and since the boys were off doing something with Logan outside, you inside talking to your mom.

"Honey, your brother even told me you two were bound to date!" Your mother said, making you laugh and shake your head.

"Thats funny mom! We're not bound to date."

"Oh yeah then how come you've already gone on three dates? Dinner and a movie, the water park, and then just last week when you guys went for a two hour hike then went for lunch!" You mom said, she really wanted you to end up with Zach. Even your brother who at first didn't even let you talk to the boys but eventually Jack realized how stupid that sounds.

"I mean, to be honest with you mom, I don't really think those were dates. He is one of the nicest person to take me places, but I don't think he likes me any other way than a friend." You said, not seeing Zach behind you, but your mom did.

"Honey, just ask Zach. He may cease to surprise you."

"Ask me what?" Zach said, making you jump off the couch, your computer falling off your lap and onto the ground. Your hand went to your chest as you tried to regulate your breathing and slow your heartbeat.

"HOlLY JEEPERNUTZ! YOU SCARED THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME! DON'T DO THAT!" You yelled at Zach as everyone outside, came running inside to see what the commotion was all about.

"Y/n, what happened?" Jack asked, running to your side, immediately.

"Zach just scared the living daylights out of me! I was talking to mom when he sneaked up behind me." you said calmly. Jack looked over to Zach, Zach trying not to laugh.

"I'm sorry, but I heard my name." He said, trying to stifle his laugh.

"Yeah, doesn't mean I was talking about you. There are plenty of Zach's in this world." You remarks, a little upset he was eavesdropping on your private conversation with your mother. You picked your laptop up and walked upstairs to your shared room with Daniel and Jack.

"I heard her talking to her mom about a guy she's seeing and your mom said to just talk to Zach. I thought they were talking about me, so I spoke up scaring the shit out of her." Zach explained, looking like a puppy who just lost their best friend to video games. Jack looked around the room and tried not to laugh, including the rest of the boys.

"What?" Zach asked, sounding like a 5 year old who doesn't get the dirty joke his older siblings just told.

"Dude, my sister is only seeing one guy. And thats you doofus. Go upstairs and talk to her. She doesn't like getting scared. She's just upset about that and maybe the fact that you were eavesdropping." Jack said, as he and the boys headed outside, leaving Zach to think of an apology.

When he finally thought of what he was gonna say he headed up to your room. He knocked on the door and heard you tell your mom that you would call her later. When the door opened you crossed your arms, waiting for him to say something but he was a little starstruck just looking at you.

"Yes?" You brought his attention back to earth.

"I'm sorry. I truly am sorry for eavesdropping and for scaring you. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. Or to scare you. I came inside to ask you if you wanted to go downtown with the rest of us. But then I heard you were talking about someone you went on a date with and I wanted know if you were talking about me. Y/n I like you." Zach said, making you just want to hug him because of how sorry he sounded.

"Zach, I haven't been on a date with anyone else but you since I got here. And I guess I like you too." You said sarcastically, but he picked up on that and just smiled with you. He pulled you into a hug.

"Enough to be my girlfriend?" He asked, making you laugh.

"Barely." You joked again. Making him laugh this time. "Yeah, I like you just enough to be your girlfriend."

Jack:

"Y/n, you want to go for a run with me?" Jack asked as you were tying your shoelaces up.

"Jack, you don't run." You said, laughing at him, getting up and walked out the door with him trailing behind you.

"Yeah and I want to start running and getting into shape." Jack said, making you shake your head. You began to jog down the street with Jack shortly behind you.

You were at least 45 minutes into your workout when you remembered that you were not alone and Jack was still with you. You turned to check where he was, to your surprise he wasn't too far behind. When he caught up with you he bent over, panting like a dog.

"Damn, you do this everyday?" Jack panted, looking up at you, squinting from the direct sunlight.

You chuckled. "It gets easier the more times you do it. We can turn around here and go farther tomorrow if you want to?"

Jack looked up at you then behind him where you two came from, then back to you. "Can we? Please?"

"Yes, of course we can. We can walk so you can catch your breath." You said giggling slightly at the out of shape musician.

As you walked in silence, neither you or Jack speaking, you paid careful attention to the flowers in the grass growing beside the cemented ground. The way the slight breeze hit your sweaty skin, making you shiver in delight. The sounds of different types of birds chirping. The sound the cars engines sound as they drive past you. You took the time to notice the way the trees moved and danced along with the wind.

"You know, the real reason I wanted to join was because I wanted to spend more time with you?" Jack spoke up, pulling your attention from the trees to him.

"Huh?" You looked over to him, Jack already looking at you.

"The only reason I came with you was because I wanted to spend more time with you. Lately we haven't really hung out. You're always out running, with your friends, school or doing homework. And I know your class work had gotten easier. So I don't know why you and I haven't hung out." Jack explained, no longer panting. You raised your eyebrows at the curly headed boy, that you had a crush on.

"I'm sorry. I just got really busy wit-" you started but then realized that no matter you said, he would know you were lying. "Okay, look, Jack I have feelings for you. And I don't necessarily think that acting on those feelings would be a good thing."

"Why?"

"Why? Why do I have feelings for you? or why would it not be a good thing?" You asked, raising your eyebrows at him.

"Second one."

"Because it would ruin everything. I would have to move out of the house because we would spend too much time together. We would get sick and tired of each other before making it to a month." You explained, seeing the compound in view.

"Well, it's a good thing Logan is moving then." Jack said, making you whip your head towards his direction.

"What?"

"Logan wants you to move in with him and Evan." Jack said, as he stopped walking.

"Why?"

"Because we're going on tour soon and your brother doesn't want you to be alone for months."

"Eben isn't the boss of me."

"I know, but your parents are. And they don't want you alone either." Jack said, looking at you with basically the heart eyes emoji.

"What?" You asked when you realized the way he was looking at you.

"Can I please take you out on a date tonight? Because Y/n, I have such strong feelings for you too." He said smiling at you.

You stood there, waiting for him to say that he was joking but when it didn't come, your eyes went wide. "Yeah, okay. Sure. Okay, that happened."
