Zach Herron

--

You were sitting on a kitchen stool as you and your 3 year old little brother made cookies waiting for your parents to get back home from a lunch date. You thought it was cute that they had these little lunch dates every Saturday. No matter what was going on in their lives, they set aside time to spend together and to show each other they appreciate each other.

"Is your boyfriend coming over?" Alex asked as he tried to shape the cookie dough into little balls.

"Yeah, you like having Zach around don't you?" You ask, setting the balls of cookie dough on the pan, and taking the makeshift ball from Alex to roll it into a proper ball.

"Yeah, he plays games with me. He's fun." Alex said with a smile and that cute little giggle kids make, that automatically brings a smile to your face.

*ding, dong*

The doorbell went off, causing you to lift your head up. That was Zach. You smile as you picked Alex up and went to answer the door.

"Zach!" Alex screamed, as he struggled to get out of your arms and into Zach's. He laughs, taking Alex into his big arms.

"Hey there buddy!" He greets him with a big smile and a hug.

"We're making chocolate chip cookies!" Alex said with excitement as they made their way into the kitchen. You closed the door, making your way to the kitchen.

"Awe dude thats awesome! Can I help?" He asked as he pulled up another black stool and sat next to you as he sat Alex back down on the counter, near the cookie dough.

"Y/n, hi." Zach said, finally greeting you. You smiled over to him.

"Took you long enough." You said laughing at the 'hurt' expression he was making.

"Sorry, but you're little brother just seemed more excited to me than you did." He played along, laughing.

"Yeah, but that's only because he doesn't spend as much time with you as I do." You said, putting more cookie dough balls on the pan and finally the pan into the oven.

"How many cookies are you making?" Zach asked as he noticed the other pan in the oven that is filled with cookies.

"We may have accidentally messed up the recipe. So we made a lot more dough than we needed." You said shyly. You little brother accidentally poured more flour than needed so you ended up just making twice the amount you normally make.

"When are mom and dad coming back?" Alex asked, yawning.

"They should be here any second now." You answered after looking at the time.

"You excited to meet my parents?" You asked Zach, as you making more cookie dough balls.

"Uhm, more scared than excited." Zach shuddered at the thought of your parents not liking him.

"They will love you, no need to stress over that." You reassured him.

Soon after all of the cookies had been baked, your parents arrived.

"Y/n! Alex! We're back!" You heard you mom shout from the door, you and Zach were in the kitchen cleaning the dishes that you used.

"In the kitchen!" You called out, turning the water off seeing as you were finished.

"You made cookies? You made a lot of cookies." Your mom said as she noticed the three plates of cookies.

"Yeah, you can thank Alex for that. He poured more flour than we needed." You said laughing. "Uhm, Mom, Dad. This is Zach Herron. Zach, my parents y/m/n and y/d/n."

"Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you." Zach said, shaking their hands.

"So you're the boyfriend that my daughter won't stop talking about." Your father said, laughing a little at the end.

"All good things I hope." Zach said, laughing nervously.

"Only good things." Your mom reassured him, easing his nerves a little.

"Well, Alex is watching a movie in the living room. Maybe we should all join him?" You suggested hearing the disney music coming from the living room.

"Please? I love hanging out with your brother." Zach said, taking ahold of your hand.

"More than me?!" You joked, laughing at his smirk.

"A little bit, yeah." He joked, making your parents smile. They were happy that you met someone that you made you as happy as your parents make each other.
