chapter 4

okay so first off I feel like I jumped ahead in the last chapter? I was sort of desperate to have something happen that I just sorta....yeah. Also i'm sorry about the quality of writing! I know it's boring so far and you could basically skip the first two chapters and not miss anything but I'm trying to ease into the story. But now I've  decided fuck it, it's my book and i'm going to put all the drama and pain in from now on and no one can stop me so yeah, expect pain in future chapters ( if you stick around ) and maybe possibly some relationship stuff?? I'm not sure about ships yet....Anyway back to the story! Also should I want to try telling the story from different pov soooo here is that.

"Oh...my gosh" Peggy was awestruck...dumbfounded. What the ever loving fuck was she seeing? Was this real?

Before she had time to say anything Alex started to panic and spit out excuses

" I-It's not what it looks like! really I swear I uh...I'm in this play! and erm...I wanted to try the costume on before school because...it's set in a highschool and I uh wanted to get into character and as you can see this is not real hahah so you can y'know...leave"

Still Peggy couldn't say anything her mind was racing. She didn't notice at first when Alex began to tear up. Then she heard him sobbing and was snapped back to reality.

Alex's pov

Fuck. Peggy had seen me. I knew I was done for and I started to spit out some excuse about a play, I could tell she wasn't buying it and felt myself tear up. I had one chance to finally make friends and have a relatively normal life and I ruined it. I started sobbing before I could stop myself. This was it, I was going to be sent away to some lab to be experimented on and lose the only friends I've ever had. It was my own stupid fault, I should have been more careful! What was I thinking, making friends. I should have known that I would just ruin it like I ruin everything.

It was then I noticed a pair of arms around me...Peggy.

third person

" Alex, I don't know what's going on but you don't need to cry. Do you think in would stop being your friend or something after finding out?" Peggy spoke gently, a tone Alex had never heard on her. In that moment she reminded him strangely of his mother. He found her words comforting, if a little confusing.

" you mean...you aren't going to run, you aren't weirded out? Annoyed that I lied to you? You don't feel...betrayed?"

" haha of course not! I'm your friend and I always will be. If anything I just think this is really cool!" Alex chuckled a bit at that. " look, Alex. I don't pretend to know the challenges you've faced, the challenges you are facing right now, but i'm not afraid, I know you well enough by now to know that you will be able to handle everything that comes your way, but Alex, you do not need to handle everything by yourself. You have friends that care for you, you don't need to tell me anything, just let me stay here by your side, that would be enough"

Alexander could have cried all over again at that. She excepted him, she wasn't mad, she didn't try to get information out of him, she didn't try to understand, she was just there. There when he needed her. It was nice, to have someone there.

That's when he decided, she deserved to know.

" Thank you, Peggy. You have no idea how much that means to me. Listen, I will tell you everything, you deserve to know. But please, promise not to tell the others. I'm not sure how they might react and I don't want to scare them"

" Of course I won't tell them! But Alex, the others wouldn't mind. Heck, they'd probably think it was cool too!" Alex nodded and smiled at that.

" but first let me get rid of this tail!"

" and how exactly do we do that?"

" oh, you just have to dry it off. I'll explain all that later.

Peggy nodded and grabbed some paper towels, " you mind?" she said, motioning toward Alex's tail.

" go ahead"

When his tail was nice and, y'know... not there anymore, he began the story.

" Now, this all started with my mother..."

By the way if you are wondering what Alex looks like in merman form his tail is long and a dark shade of green. with some scales that change colour. There is no way to tell what these will be, there are also a few of these colour changing scales scattered around his arms/chest when in merman form.
