Twenty six

Today is Saturday, I got up and changed into a grey cropped top with laces growing round my stomach from the top and light washed blue ripped jeans with white shoes

I met them in the food court.

'Hey guys!' I smile

'Hey Lu!' They say at the same time

We go to random shops and I was actually really enjoying myself.

We came out of a shop and we brought some drinks.

We were walking around until my eyes fell on him. He was in front of me. Grayson. I froze in place, tears already in my eyes. Ready to pour out any second now.

Ethan sighed and come to us. And Grayson followed behind him. The closer he came, the faster my heart beat got.

We were a few steps away from each other. I couldn't take my eyes off of him until he looked at me. The moment he looked, I snapped out of it and looked at the ground with a tear coming out one of my eye.

'Hey guys' Ethan says

'Hey you two!' Liv says

Grayson smiles.

There was an awkward silence between us for a few seconds.

'So, hows it going?' Skylar finally says breaking that silence.

'I'll be right back' Grayson says walking away

'Grayson!' I shout afterwards not knowing what I was going to say

He turned around, but then carried on walking after I didn't say anything to him.

'I-I'll go with him. Just know Luna that he's doing this for a reason. You'll figure it out soon. He's doing it to protect you' Ethan said before walking off in the direction that Grayson went.

He's doing it to protect me?

I thought in my head.

We went to my house. After a we got home, an hour later I got a call from my mum

'Yes mum?'

'Darling, come to the hospital now.'

'What? What's wrong with dad?'

'Please come no time for a explanation'

'Okay on my way! Same hospital?' I say looking at Skylar, she nods at me

'Yes'

We all drive to the hospital, Liv said that she was going to text Ethan so they know where they are. Protective boyfriend. Cute though.

We got to the hospital, I asked the receptionist which room we had to go to. She told us and I jogged to the room.

I open the door to see a doctor

'Hello, I'm guessing your his daughter?'

'Yes, yes I am.'

'I don't know if your father has told you this but, he has stage 3 cancer!' He says looking down

'Wait what?!' I say holding on to a chair trying not to fall.

'I'm so sorry, but we don't think he can make it'

I was taking deep breathes

'There is a small chance that he will make it, but right now I need you to go to your mother and try and calm her down!'

I nod, I looked at my dad laying there peacefully, he was breathing. I went outside and tried to find my mum. I was trying to hold in my tears. Try to be strong for my mum, for my dad.

My walking got slower and weaker

'Luna!' I turn around seeing Grayson running towards me.

I couldn't help it anymore. I whispered his name. My legs were shaking like mad, I fell to the ground. Grayson got to me in time and caught me.

I started crying into his chest, holding on to his top.

'It's okay, it's all going to be alright' he says running his hands through my hair.

We stayed in the ground for a bit

'Do you want to know what your dad told me inside the hospital room when you got out?' He says after awhile, not getting off the ground.

I look up at him and nod

'Well' He says running off a tear off of my cheek with his thumb.

'He told me, that he had cancer, he wanted me to protect you. Apparently I was one of the only nod he trusted with you.' He continued

'But, how can you protect me when you don't even come near me' I say getting slightly mad that he hadn't told me that my dad had cancer

'And why the fuck did you not tell me my dad had cancer?!' I say looking him in the eyes

'He didn't want me to, I told him that I can't keep that a secret from you. But he made me promise to him that I didn't tell you' he looks at the ground

We don't speak for a while

'Quick, send in the doctor!' I hear the nurse shout

'Quick, we need him right now for room 285!'

That was my dads room..
