Thirty nine

*Sigh, they are adults now! Happy Birthday to the goofs! 😜💖♥️(well that have been for a few days now, I'm just really late at updating 😅) *

I closed the door behind me, and walk slowly and awkwardly towards the chair next to my dads bed. I sit down and place my hands on my laps nervously. I started to wave my hands in the hair trying to dry my sweaty hands. Tmi? Sorry.

I stopped after I realized how weird I probably look. I took a deep breathe and reached for my dads hand that was near the edge of the bed. I held his hand in my hand tightly.

'Hey dad' I whisper

'I haven't seen you in a while' I continue to whisper

I don't know why, but I was expecting a response. My dad was always there for me through thick and thin; as well as my mum.

'Daddy' I sniff going back to my old habits of calling my dad daddy

'Please don't leave me' I sniff a little bit harder

'Please don't leave mum' I start to tear up

'P-please d-ont leav-e ya' I start to cry, letting down my walls and going a bit more near the bed so I could pull my dads hand up to my face without hurting him. I kissed his hand and gently placed it on my forehead.

I stayed in that position for a while with my eyes closed, it felt good. It was peaceful. I took deep breathes, I opened my eyes to look at my dad and then realized that I was holding on to his hand tightly. Too tightly, in fact.

'Sorry' I say like some one would answer back

I loosen my grip a little on my dads hand.

I looked back up at my dads face and took in his features. He was way paler than usual, and he looked weaker. His expression was normal, but a bit more. Sad?

Eventually, I feel a grip back!

'Dad! Your awake!' I say happily with tears strolling down my face.

'Yes honey, I am' He says pretty quietly and smiles

'Don't cry!' He says reaching his hand up to my cheek. But I realized that his hand was shaking horribly. He reached for my cheek and wiped a few tears away. He was about to retrieve his shaky hand but I caught it and held it in my hands trying to calm it down or something.

'Please don't leave us. Ever' I say eventually

'I would never, even if I'm not here with your mother and you. I'd always be there with you till the end. Please can you tell your mother to come in? I want to see both of you' he says

I nod and walk towards the door to let my mum know that dad wants her to come in.

My mother and I stand on the same side of the bed l, while my mum is holding my dads hand and my hand in her other.

We stand there for a good few moments looking at each other and smiling. All of a sudden my mum grabs me and pulls me into a hug, then kisses my on the forehead for about 5 seconds and pulls away smiling at me. I smile back at her and then give my attention back to dad because he was clearing his throat and seem like he was about to talk.

'Please look after each other. Never keep secrets from each other, especially if your scared! You'll never have to go through anything alone. As long as you have each other.' He says after coughing a few times

'Oh darling' my mum hours over and kisses my dad

'You're going to be okay! You'll be out in no time!' My mum continues trying to look on the positive yet slim side of things.

'I may die Sophia' my dad says using my mums real name, meaning he was really serious. The only time dad actually uses people who were close to him by their name means that he's serious about what he's saying.

My mums smile fades a little. I bite my bottom lip nervously not knowing what to do at that moment. After a few seconds of me thinking, I move forwards and hug my mum from the side and hope this will be useful. Whenever I was sad a hug would calm me down. So I thought it might calm my mum down. We stood there for a bit just like that, exchanging looks again.

The more I thought about my dad dying, the more I wanted to throw up.

So today at school one of my crushes found out that I have a crush on him (I think) thanks Daniella 😒
