She was called down to her master's throne room.

She was a mutant. Part wolf. Part bat. She had a wolf tail, and you could see her bat ears sticking out of her hair. Her bat wings were closed on her back.

She wore the same thing everyday—black shorts, black boots, and a black t-shirt with the Foot symbol on the back. Her long, dark brown hair was tied tight into a high ponytail, and her green eyes held fear.

Every time Shredder called her to his throne room, it never ended well for her.

Foot soldiers opened the door to the room and she nodded her thanks.

"You called me, Master?" she said, kneeling in front of her master's throne.

"Yes, I did, Akiko," Oroku Saki said, walking towards her. He stopped in front of her and Akiko sucked in a breath and tensed.

"Rise," Shredder said after a minute. Akiko obeyed without hesitation.

Fear swam through her. Fear. It was a feeling she felt every living, breathing moment of her life. Wherever she went, fear went with her.

"Karai has failed to capture the turtles, again," Shredder growled.

Karai? Not being able to capture the turtles? This was something Akiko couldn't process. How could Karai—Shredder's prized pupil and daughter—not be able to capture the turtles? Were they really that strong?

"So I have decided to let you go out alone to capture Yoshi's disciples," Shredder interrupted her thoughts.

Akiko looked up. This was shocking to hear. Shredder never trusted her alone on a mission. Let alone capturing the turtles. He'd always say she wasn't ready. That his weapon wasn't ready.

"Will you?" Shredder said. It was more of an order than a request.

"Yes Master," Akiko said. She bowed and turned around.

"Akiko," Shredder said and she stopped in her tracks. "Do not fail me," he said darkly.

"I won't," Akiko nodded, knowing the consequences of her failure would be unimaginable pain without any mercy. She walked out of the room, promising herself that she would not fail her master again.

The turtles were on a rooftop doing their nightly patrol.

"I'm so bored," shouted Michelangelo.

"Yeah, Leo," said Raphael. "Can't we just go back home? We've been out here for hours and I didn't even get to kick any butt."

"I agree with Raph and Mikey, Leo," said Donatello. "We should go home."

"Face it, Leo," Raph said. "Nothing's going to happen."

Leonardo sighed. He knew they should be heading home before Splinter got worried. But he knew something would happen. He could feel it.

"Leo? You still with us?" Raph said, snapping Leo out of his thoughts.

"Yeah," Leo said. "I just feel like someone's watching us. Like somethings going to happen."

Raph only rolled his eyes.

"You always think like that, Leo," Mikey said.

"I'm sure it's nothing," said Donnie.

"I guess your right," Leo said. "Let's go home."
