"Oh yeah. Level 83 dude," Michelangelo shouted. "I'ma flip it."
Mikey was playing a video game on an arcade machine and Akiko and Leonardo were watching him play.
The few weeks that she had been staying with the turtles, Akiko had learned that the turtles loved video games. During their free time, when they weren't training, the turtles would either watch TV, eat pizza, read a comic, and usually, play video games. Akiko had tried to play video games but failed miserably, she just didn't know how to use the controller. Besides, she enjoyed watching the turtles play anyway.
Mikey gasped. "No no no no no no no. It's SkullaRax," he shouted.
Akiko had also learned that video games came in levels and that SkullaRax was the final boss.
"Eyebeam," Leo suggested. "Use the eyebeam."
Akiko's feelings for Leo had also grown over the weeks she had spent with them.
"I'm scared man. What am I gonna do?" Mikey shouted. Mikey's ship dodged SkullaRax's attack but was ultimately annihilated. "No," he screamed. He put his head on the desk, defeated. "I was so close, guys. So close," he moaned.
Akiko laughed. She loved the fact that when the turtles played, they played like their life depended on it. Like if they lose, they would lose their life too.
"You did well my son." Leo put his hand on Mikey's shoulder and pushed him away. "Now watch a real sensei at work." He cracked his neck and started playing.
Akiko couldn't help but stare at Leo dreamily. She loved the way he would grin and the pure confidence in his beautiful ocean blue eyes.
"Mikey!" Raphael shouted and emerged from his room. He stormed over to Mikey who was sitting on a beanbag. "You got pizza stains all over my collection of modern ninja magazine. They're ruined," Raph said.
"Dude," Mikey got off the beanbag, "those things are like twenty years old. They're not exactly modern."
"They're vintage." Raph showed him the magazine. "It took me six years to collect them. Six years."
Mikey snatched the magazine from Raph's hand.
"Chillax bro. I'll clean it for ya." Mikey started licking the magazine.
Akiko tried to control her laughter. She knew how important Raph's magazines were to him. Mikey was in for it now.
Raph took Spike off his shoulder and put him on a crate. He snatched the magazine from Mikey and hit him in the head with it.
"You mess up everything Mikey," Raph said angrily.
"It's just stuff Raph," Leo said as he continued to play his game. "Meager possessions. What does it matter?"
"What about your precious comic book collection, huh?" Raph retorted. "You always stick up for Mikey. Try seeing my point of view for once."
"I get it. I just think like Master Splinter says, material possessions are fleeting and–"
Raph hit the game machine and Leo and Akiko stepped back in surprise. Akiko had learned the hard way to not interfere when Raph was mad.
"Enough," he said. "I'm tired of you guys. You're always messing up and I gotta pay for it." He threw his comic on the ground and stormed off.
Leo got back to playing his game and Mikey sat on the couch reading a magazine. Akiko watched as Raph went to vent his anger out on the dummy and picked up his magazine.
"You shouldn't worry about him," Leo said and Akiko turned to face him. "You know he has anger issues."
"I know," Akiko said sadly. "But I do think you should listen to him more often."
