====Jason's P.O.V.====
I'm sitting up in my bed doodling on a random piece of paper when the bell rings for breakfast. I put my paper and pencil away before leaving my room and heading for the elevator. I haven't seen Jacob use the elevator since the first time I talked to him. I step into the open elevator and hold the door for some other people. I make sure we're all going to the same place and press the appropriate button.As soon as the elevator doors open up on the first floor, I'm the first to leave. I head straight for the stairwell and open the door. I glance around as I close the door and see Jacob sitting on the last step. He doesn't look too good. He has a brace on his left hand, his eyes look red, and his skin looks a bit pale. He is staring at the wall.
"Hey." I say quietly trying not to startle him. It doesn't work and he jumps anyway.
"Oh. Hey Jason." He replies. I walk over to him and sit down next to him.
"Hey, are you okay?" I ask gently. He doesn't reply, just shakes his head no.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He shrugs.
"Okay, how about... I'll ask a few questions, and you only answer the ones you want to. Okay?" he nods.
"Okay first... What happened to your hand?" He points to the wall. I look over to it and see that it had been cracked. "Did you punch the wall?!" He nods. "Why?" He does nothing for a moment then looks at me and speaks.
"What did, uh, Elton say? I mean, about when you left us alone..." He asks.
"Well, he said that he would rather not talk about it at the moment then left me at the elevator. Why?"
"I'm going to tell you something. I have told Gracie this before but... I haven't told her all of it. Elton might be angry with me after I share this. But, you might also not believe me, since he is your friend..." He pauses and looks at me. "Promise you won't tell anyone? Except for Elton. You can tell him that I told you."
"Yeah, I promise..." I respond to him. A little skeptical.
"Okay... Do you think we can go somewhere else first..." I nod and stand up. I then offer him my hand and help him stand up.
"Are you okay with going to my room?" He asks. I nod and he starts up the stairs. I follow him up the stairs and down the hall to his door. He opens it and holds it open for me. I walk past him and he walks in after me, closing the door. He sits on his bed and pats the spot next to him. I sit next to him and he begins.
"I am mixed with dove, you already know that though, I don't know what percentage I am because I was a failed experiment. I don't know how or why I'm considered 'failed'" he used his hands to make air quotations. "but I am. After they realized I was 'failed', I was given to another scientist. His name was Dr. Elton Jace. He was supposed to look after me and make sure I stay healthy. Instead, he ran tests and experiments on me." he shudders, remembering it all" he did all sorts of things too but, I don't really want to go into too much detail. I will say this though. before I was with Dr. Jace, I had no problem with letting my wings show. I even had a couple shirts that I had ripped so my wings could poke through. After... I don't even want to see them anymore. Once the scientists realized what he was doing, they took away his position as a head doctor and scientist. I don't know what they did to him after that.
When I first saw your friend Elton, I though he looked like Dr. Jace, he even as the same first name! So, of course, I thought it could have been him, but I wasn't sure. But then, when he saw me and realized who I was, he smiled at me. My suspicions grew stronger. Then he lied to you! I went along with it because, I though he must have had a reason. When when you left us alone, he brought up my wing and I knew for a fact that it was him. I just..." he trailed off then looked at me. "I understand if you don't believe me..."
====Gracie's P.O.V.====
I sit up in my bed. My entire body aches, but I can't wait to see Jacob. I wait on my bed until the bell rings for lunch. I jump up and open my door. I pass the guard outside and rush to the elevator jumping in as soon as the door is open and jamming the button for the first floor.
Just as the door is about to close someone sticks their foot in the door and it reopens. He slowly steps onto the elevator and the door finally closes and the elevator begins to slide down to the floors below.
"Hello. I'm Elton. What's your name?" Says the guy who slightly delayed my trip. I look over at him. He has red hair, dark, almost black, eyes, and tan skin. He is smiling at me revealing his straight white teeth.
"I'm Gracie" I reply, smiling back to be polite. The doors open and I walk out over to where Jacob is. I see him and rush over to him he turns around just in time to catch me in a hug.
"Jay! How are you? OMG I missed you so much." I say. I look up at him and see him looking at something over my shoulder. I turn to follow his gaze and see the guy from the elevator. I look back at him "Hey Jay..." He looks at me and he smiles.
"Hey Gray! I missed you too." he then hugs me again but this time he picks me up and spins us in a circle. I giggle and he sets me back down on the floor.
"Hey, is it okay if we get food then meet up with some other people today?" He asks me.
"Yup! As long as my best friend is there!" I say. He laughs at me, then grabs my arm lightly to lead me over to the lunch line.
After we get our lunch, he leads me over to the stairwell and holds the door open for me. I look at him questioningly but go in any way. Once I get in I see Jason.
"Hey Sonny!" I set my food down by the door and give him a hug.
"Hey Grace! How are ya?" He asks.
"Decent enough, you?"
"Meh" we both laugh and Jay joins in too. After a few seconds, and we're all done laughing, Jay sits down against the wall and I pick up my food then go sit to the left of him.
"Alrighty now, let's start." Sonny says. He looks at me and puts on a serious face. "So, Grace, I'm going to tell you something. You are not allowed to repeat it to anyone. Do you understand?" I nod confused. "Great. Now-" the door opens and he stops. I look over and see the guy from the elevator.
"Oh, hey Elton..." Sonny says. I glance at Jay and then look back at Sonny. Neither of them seem too happy to see this guy.
