I entered the room, her skin was paler than usual and her chest barely rose and fell.

She was tucked into the bed, and if you didn't hear the slow yet fairly steady beep of her heart on the monitor you wouldn't have actually thought she was alive.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't come find you sooner..." I whispered quietly and sat on the uncomfortable plastic chair next to the bed. I looked up at her thin face. Hadn't they fed her properly?

I sighed quietly, looking down at my body, seeing how I barely had a scratch on me from the fights, yet here she was. Shot, beaten, bruised-

I rested my hand on top of hers, flinching slightly at the coldness of her skin. I gently caressed the bruises and cuts decorating her hand. Completely zoning out.

"Is she okay?" Mi Ra burst into the room, her arm bandaged and in a sling. I looked up.

"We're extremely lucky she's alive." I mumbled quietly. "Doctors said if she had been brought in any later and she almost definitely wouldn't make it. They said she's in a more stable condition now... but not one hundred percent..."

Mi Ra teared up. "I-I... She's not just my leader, she's my best friend- my sister I never got." She squeaked. "I can't loose her too!"

Da Hyeon came up behind her and hugged her tightly. "She'll be okay, she's a fighter."

She turned breaking down in his chest and I sighed quietly looking back at her. "Do you two want some alone time with her?"

Da Hyeon looked down at Mi Ra and then at me before shaking his head. "I think I need to get Mi Ra home..."

I nodded slightly sighing as they left. I looked back up at her and felt tears well in my eyes. All this happened because I wasn't there to help her- To save her-

I hadn't left the hospital in a week, she hadn't woken up since she was brought in. But the doctors had been in saying she was definitely improving. I walked out the shower room, my hair damp as I ran the towel through it and I sat on the chair.

I looked at her still laying there, her hair pulled back into a loose ponytail. I held her hand gently, still unused to the coldness of them. I scrolled through my phone, singing quietly to entertain myself further. I continued scrolling until I finished singing.

"You have a nice voice..." A scratchy voice broke the silence and I looked towards the door, expecting a nurse there or something. But a giggle from behind me broke me from looking there and I saw Soo Mi propping herself up on one elbow.

"Y-You're awake!" I stuttered, my eyes wide. She pushed herself up further. "I need to call a nurse through, stay right there." I went to stand up and let go of her hand and I felt a tug. I looked down and saw her hand grasping mine.

"In a few minutes..." She mumbled quietly and I hesitated before sitting back down. "Come closer..."

I moved closer and her hand left mine and within a second her arms wrapped around my neck loosely.

"W-What are you doing?" I felt my heart rate speed up, and physically heard hers.

"Thank you..." She whispered quietly, leaning down and resting her head in the crook of my neck. She clung onto me as if her life depended on it. "It means a lot..."

"It's no problem." I spoke quietly and I felt something warm hit the shoulder of my shirt and a small sob left her lips.

"I was so scared..." She whispered quietly. "I thought I was going to die-"

"You're safe now..." I whispered in return and rubbed her back, slightly shocked at her actions.

"I owe you my life..." Her voice trailed off and her sobs quietened and her body felt heavy. I waited a minute.

"Soo Mi?" I asked quietly and got no reply. I laid her back down and she smiled within her sleep, pulling the blankets around her. "I won't mess up this time, I'll protect you with my life."
