Broken Doctor | Connor Rhodes 'discontinued'

Part 8; Conor...

I walk to the nurses station and see Maggie on the phone, I wait until she is off and then she shouts, "We've got a car accident, 2 adults, one child". She points to me and and someone behind me, I turn round and see Conor and I send he a sympathetic smile

Maggie shouts then "You two, Trauma 2" then a bed rolls in coming from an ambulance will paramedics taking it to trauma 2, we help them into the room.

"David Jones, 34, hit from the side"

When we get into the room Conor shouts "Transfer on my count" then we all grab the table the patient is lying on, "Okay, 1, 2, 3" we lift the table over an put it on the bed.

"Okay, Get us a chest x-ray, leg x-ray" I tell the nurse.

"Okay, when I tell you push your feet against my hands", I put my hands on his feet, "now" he pushes weakly but he isn't paralysed. "Okay now squeeze my hand" I grab his hand and he squeezes it. Then the x-ray machine comes in, we put a board behind his back and put the machines over his chest, then a light flashes and then the x-ray pops up on the screen.

"Cracked ribs at the bottom" says Conor.

"Bp dropping, heart rate is rising, seems like he fainted" April interrupts us.

"Okay, at risk of a lacerated spleen, liver and kidneys, let's check that out, if it is, he needs to go to the OR now" I say to Conor. I lift up his his shirt, and it looks swollen and blueish, I touch it with my hands, "Okay, laparoscopy needed now, he's bleeding internally"

"Take him to the OR now and get him prepped for surgery" Conor tells April while walking to the OR, I run out to him.

"Conor I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say all those things"

"Why'd you say those then? What have I done to you? I even tried to get you a residency in Trauma here, but I guess it for for nothing"

"Wait what did you do?"

"It doesn't matter now" he says turning around walking to the elevator.

"Please" I tell him

"I have to do this surgery, we can talk at lunch time"

"Sorry, I have to talk to Doctor Charles st lunch but maybe later? And page me if anything changes about his condition"

"Sure" then he leaves for good.

I walk back to the nurses station to get another patient when Maggie whispers to me, "so what's going on with you and Dr. Rhodes?".

"Me and Connor? Pshh... nothing....." I say in I a obvious lying voice, I can't lie for shit.

"Alex..."

"Okay, Okay, we had a fight, Well, I shouted and cursed at him and he just listened, and even if that wasn't bad, it was our first date" I say so quickly so no one could understand, but Maggie could, because she deals with angry and sad family members who shouts and cry, Jesus, I can hardly understand an Irish persons accident, let alone crying family members.

"Well your in deep bowls"

"Bowls? That is not a good joke"

"Of course it it"

"Okay it kinda does" I say laughing.

"Hey guys" Nat says coming up behind us.

"Hey Nat"

"You coming to the party at Molly's Friday?" She asks both of us.

"Of course"

"Probably not, I'll take a shift here" I say with a fake smile

"Of course you are coming! Your not even working that day! Dr Choi is! Come on!"

"Will P.D and Fire be there?" I ask, hoping P.D won't, I have to apologise to Herrmann, well he owns the bar so he'll must likely be there.

"Yeah, everyone is coming, Well not everyone some will be working" she tells me.

"Yeah.. maybe not.."

"Of course you are! Meet me at mine tonight at 5, we can get ready together!"

"Okay.. fineee" I say in a loud voice.

"Now that's the spirit! Also Maggie who's my next patient" she says

"5 year old Molly Evens, diagnosed with leukaemia 2 years ago, has a sore chest and been having head aches" Maggie tells her as she hands her the iPad, "Alex, take your break now, you've been working your but off"

"Okay, do you know if Doctor Charles is free now?" I ask

"Yeah He should be walking about the psychiatric ward" she answers confused.

"Okay thanks" I smile and walk to towards the psychiatry ward....
