Broken Doctor | Connor Rhodes 'discontinued'

Part 12;

Alex POV;
I walk out of the Doctor's lounge over to the nurses station and I see a young boy being brought in on a stretcher by the paramedics.

"Dr. Williams, treatment 2." Maggie says as she points at the boy, I pick up some gloves from the nurses station and put them on as I follow the boy, paramedics and what I believe his parents.

"13 year old Dylan Lucas,  sharp pain on his lower right, temperature 102°, fast heart beat." The female paramedic tells me.

They bring the stretcher over to the treatment bed, "Okay on my count, 1, 2 ,3!" I tell the paramedics. On the 3 we lift him on the bed. He shouts out in pain.

"Okay, Dylan, I'm gonna roll up your shirt and just check Okay?" I ask him, he nods through the pain. I lift up his top and touch the spot where his appendix is it's a bit swollen. I put his top back down and turn to his parents.

"How long has this been going on for?"

"Um.. it started two days ago.. he hasn't been eating or drinking, so gave him no medication but used a heat pad"

With all of the information I have I believe this is a ruptured appendix. I turn to Maggie who is outside the door, "Page Trauma, ruptured appendix, he needs and operation now".

"All operation rooms are full, the next opening is 2 hours."

"He doesn't have two hours!"

"I'll page Trauma and get a surgeon sent down,  we can do the operation here," Maggie says as she presses buttons on her phone, "April, get the surgical equipment for an appendectomy".

Connor comes into the room also, he mustn't have any patients. He puts on his gloves and tells the parents what's going to happen and April leaves the surgical equipment and leads the parents to a waiting room. "Page an anesthesiologist Maggie, tell him it's for an emergency operation on a ruptured appendix", Connor tells Maggie in a whisper so Dylan can't hear.

"Okay Dylan", I tell him, "Your appendix has ruptured, and we are going to have it surgically removed, you'll be under anesthesia, and it should be okay."

"Okay", he whisper screams as his pain comes.

Connor is taking to the anesthesiologist outside the room, and then he comes in, with a needles. "Hello Dylan, I'm Dr. Daniels, and I'm gonna be giving you ur anesthesia, it will only be a pinch", he says as he gets his equipment ready on a table beside the surgical equipment.

He brings the needle over to his arm, "Your gonna feel a little pinch and when you do count to ten", he injects Dylan and he lets out a whimper and counts, he gets to 4 but goes unconscious.
"I'll say here and monitor his screen, and give him more if it needs it".

"Thanks doctor," Connor and I say at the same time.

We both put our surgical robes on and prep Dylan's stomach. While Connor was putting on the disinfectant. "So no other trauma surgeons to assist u on this?", I ask him.

"Nope," He says as he turns to me and smiles, "and I'm glad."

"So do you want to make the first incision?" I ask him

"Yes," He says, then he asks the nurse for a scalpel and he hands it to her. He cuts open the skin, then the tissue in front of the appendix.

After a long while they finally got Dylan's appendix out and cleared up any fluid that came from the burst.

"Good job Dr." I say to Connor as both of us take off our gloves and throw them in the bin.

"Good job to you also, if u haven't had seen that left over bacteria be could of gotten peritonitis"

"Well, we both did a good job." I said as we both entered the doctors lounge.

"Do you want a drink?" I asked Connor.

"Just water." he said as he sat down, I got some water for him and myself and then sat down beside him. I looked at him and he looked at me, "Penny for your thoughts?"

"I was just wondering how beautiful someone could be." He said in reply, and I just stared at him. His face came closer and closer until he kissed me.
