“Man, that was a pretty nice place,” I said as Pearl, Ryan, Chaz, and I were walking around the town our hotel was in.

“Well, what can I say? I am incredible when it comes to picking restaurants,” Chaz said cockily.

“Um, Chaz, it was me that picked that awesome restaurant!” Ryan exclaimed.

“Um, Ryan, no, I saw it first and said that we should check it out!” Chaz defended.

“You are mistaken my friend! It was not you th—”

“Guys! Can you please stop it already?” Pearl said shaking her head.

“Yeah, please shut up. You two sound like an old married couple,” I said. Pearl laughed and I laughed too.

Ryan rolled his eyes at our laughter, while Chaz just looked sour, which caused Pearl and I to laugh even more.

“Well, Kenny was with us and he has an amazing memory, so I’m sure he will be able to tell us who came up with the idea to go to that restaurant,” Ryan said.

“Fine with me,” Chaz agreed.

“So, what are we going to do now?” Pearl asked.

We were walking on the sidewalk, passing all the different stores.

“Well, it’s obviously too cold to go swimming now,” Chaz said, gesturing to the beach.

“Yeah, I think we all had enough water for today,” Pearl said. I looked down at her knowingly and she looked at me and then quickly looked away and continued, “But um yeah it’s also way too cold. I didn’t think it ever got this chilly in Hawaii!”

I looked over at her and saw her rubbing her arms and shivering.

I looked at Ryan and Chaz and winked. This was the perfect time to make a move.

Unlike Pearl, I had brought a jacket.

I swiftly took it off and handed it to her saying, “Here, this will keep you warm.”

Pearl looked up at me, a little surprised. “Oh, thanks.” She took my jacket from me and put it on. That was a good sign. Feeling confident, I took her hand in mine.

Pearl looked down at our intertwined hands, shook her head, and then looked away.

I looked over at Ryan and Chaz, a smirk on my face. Ryan smiled and gave me a thumbs up, while Chaz shook his head at me and crossed his arms.

“Should we just go back to the hotel? It’s kind of late anyway,” Pearl said, looking at the time on her phone, oblivious of the communication between Ryan, Chaz, and me.

“Yeah, I think we should do that,” Ryan said, yawning. “All that jet skiing really tired me out.”

“Agreed,” Chaz said, nodding his head.

We walked back to the hotel in silence. When we stepped into the lobby some people were entering the elevator.

Chaz saw this and then shouted, “To Kenny’s room to find out the truth!” And then began sprinting towards the elevator that was beginning to close.

“Not without me!” Ryan shouted, running after Chaz.

They both barely made it into the elevator before it closed shut.

Luckily, it was almost eleven so the only people in the lobby besides us were the employees. This didn’t stop them from shooting Pearl and I dirty looks, even though we didn’t do anything wrong.
