Pain

I stood in front of Peins door and entered. He said something to Konan who was at his side then turned to me.

"What do you have to report?" he asked.

I took a drop breath and said, "Hidan and Kakuzu are dead. The leaf are in possession of Kakuzu's body."

"This is not good." he said. "Do you have the rings?" he asked.

I set the ring Kakuzu wore on his desk. "I don't have Hidan's." I grumbled.

"No matter. I have a recon mission for you." He pulled out a scroll and handed it to me. "We have word of Orochimaru's base. You are to investigate the area and report back. Leave today at the latest." he said.

I read the scroll. "If Orochimaru is there. What do you want me to do?"

"Recon only." he said and waved me off. I nodded and left the office.

I walked down to my room to pack my things. The lights were off. When I flicked them on I saw Itachi laying on my bed holding something. My team photo. "Why do I always see you looking at that?" I asked and climbed in next to him.

"How was the mission?" he asked not answering my question.

I stiffened and balled his cloak in my hands. I kept my jaw tight and didn't answer. He set the photo down and turned to me. "Mizu, what happened?" he asked.

I swallowed hard and put my bowed my head. I felt the tears coming already so I didn't want to look at him.

"H-Hidan," I choked. "Hidan killed A-Asuma sensei." I sobbed and my body shook so he pulled me to him.

"I'm sorry Mizu. I know that must have been hard for you." He lulled.

"I told him it was me right before he died. He said he wasn't mad at me." I mumbled into the crook of his neck.

"Asuma was a wise man." He said. He pushed himself up and hovered over me. "I have to leave on a mission soon. I won't be able to stay." He said.

"I'm leaving soon as well." I said sadly. "It's for recon on-on Orochimaru." I hesitated.

He stiffened. "Be careful Mizu." He said and dipped his head kissing me lightly before leaving.

I sat up and packed my bag. It would be getting dark soon so I had too leave now. I swung my bag over my shoulder and left my room. I ignored the byes from the others and stepped out into the night. Across the clearing I saw red eyes. I smiled and walked over to him.

We passed a few pleasantries and parted with a long passionate kiss. We turned out different ways and left.

Under the moonlight I saw a river up ahead. It's been over an hour so I guess I should stop. I drank some water and ate some of the food I'd brought along. I laid back against the bark of a tree and pulled my cloak over me as a blanket. I listened to the rushing water and fell into sleep.

A sharp pain jerked me from my sleep and I opened my eyes. I saw a glint of glasses and silver hair. "K-Kabuto." I hissed but I couldnt move. I saw black spots and suddenly I felt weightless and I was asleep.

I injected a sleep serum into her neck and she woke up. I grinned when she hissed my name. When I was sure she was asleep again I collected her things and picked her up. "That was foolish of you Mizu." I said. She looks nothing like she did when she was a child. The three reported black streaks aren't in her hair anymore so Sasuke may not recognize her. Plus he thinks that she died when she was young.
