"Hey, babe, why'd you run off?" I looked up to see Maurice walking up to me, "I've been looking for you for a while, it's almost sunrise up there." he said and I nodded.

"I didn't know how to get back." I sniffed and he held out his hand to help me up. I took it and he pulled me to my feet with ease.

"You see all of these staircases?" he asked and I nodded as I looked around. We were surrounded by staircases, "Each one leads to a different kids room, and this one..." he pulled me to a specific, rickety, old staircase, "Leads to yours." he said and I nodded as he pulled me up the staircase.

"What if I didn't want to leave?" I stopped in my tracks and he turned back to me, "Not saying that I don't, but if I didn't, and I stayed here and became... Like you, then what?" I asked and he thought for a second.

"Well, then you'd be a monster, as simple as that. And you'd have to stay down here until sundown." he said and I nodded.

"I'll see you again tonight, right?" I asked and he nodded with a smile before something seemed to spark in his mind.

"Oh, wait!" he stopped me and put his hands on my shoulders, "I can't bear to see anyone go up there without protection." he said and I smirked at him.

"Protection?" I asked and he rolled his eyes.

"Not that," he smacked the top of my head gently and I laughed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out sunglasses, handing them to me.

"Thanks." I smiled and went to stuff them in my pocket before realizing I was in very revealing pajamas. I felt my face heat up slightly, "Remind me to put on actual clothes before we come down here next time, okay?"

"So there will be a next time?" He asked with a grin and I rolled my eyes, climbing up the rest of the stairs and into my room. I smiled as I watched the sun rise before looking back to the floor. It was a shame that he couldn't watch the beauty of the sunrise and sunset. He was like a vampire, trapped down there until night.

I pushed the thoughts out of my head as I began to get ready for school, pulling on ripped skinny jeans and an Arctic Monkeys muscle T with a few bracelets, looking at old faded scars with a proud smile. I pulled on some galaxy converse before grabbing my bag and making my way downstairs, passing my sleeping father on the couch. I grimaced as I left my home.

For the entire day, I did the best I could to avoid JD, which wasn't easy seeing as we sat next to each other in some classes. He left me alone for most of the day.

The sun had been burning my eyes pretty much all day, and I tried to blame it on the fact that I had light eyes, which are more sensitive to the sun rays, but I knew it was more than that. I was just glad Maurice had given me sunglasses as they came in very handy.

The final bell rang and everyone stood up to leave this place. I packed up my stuff and made my way out.

"Amore!" I heard and sighed, knowing going all day without hearing from him was too good to be true. I turned around and crossed my arms, putting all of my body weight on one leg as I looked at JD.

"Yeah?" I asked and he smiled as he walked up to me.

"I wanted to apologize for what I did." He said, looking down. I smiled slightly before frowning again and turning around, continuing to walk home.

"Forget it, JD, what you did was screwed up." I said and heard him sigh.

"I know and I'm sorry." He said, putting a hand on my shoulder, "I just get... Excited sometimes." He said and I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"Sure." I said sarcastically and shrugged his hand off my shoulder, trying to think of something to get him to leave me alone, "Besides, I like someone else." I said and mentally face palmed. We'd only broke up two nights ago, who could I possibly already like?

"Oh. Who?" He asked curiously and I waved him off.

"Oh, you don't know him, he lives somewhere else, far away from here." I said and he nodded with a small smile as if he could tell that I was lying.

"Well, what's his name?" He asked and I thought for a second.

"His name, uh, well, it's Maurice." I said and face palmed again. If I told Maurice about this, I would never hear the end of it.

I quickly ended the conversation as I reached my house, skipping shopping. We had enough supplies and not enough money, but at least my parents worked. I made dinner and ate a snack, cleaning up the house a bit as I noticed my dad wasn't home yet. Afterwards, I ran up to my room, watching the sun set as I waited for Maurice.

It wasn't long before my bed lifted and out jumped a blue skinned monster, a grin plastered on his face. I smirked slightly.

"What's that grin about?" I asked and he turned to me happily.

"I just finished a game of monsterball and wow, was it fun. And now I get to visit my best bud." he said cheerily and gently punched my shoulder. I rolled my eyes before hearing something hit my window. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked out to see JD standing outside, throwing pebbles at my window. I looked at Maurice and walked to my light switch.

"Sorry." I said quickly, turning it on before running back to the window and opening it. JD had already climbed up at this point and jumped into my room, "Why are you here?" I asked in confusion, glancing at the pile of clothes.

"I wanna know more about this guy." He answered simply and turned to me, "What did you say his name was again?" he asked and I gulped, knowing this is not how I wanted this night to go down.

"Um, Maurice." I answered, shuffling in my spot slightly and he nodded.

"When did you meet him?" he asked, sitting on my bed and I avoided his gaze.

"Uh, around the same time I met you." I answered.

"I bet you liked him while we were dating then, too, didn't you?" he accused and my eyes went wide.

"No, I'm not like that. Can you please just leave me alone?" I asked and he nodded, walking to my window before turning to me.

"I hope he can make you happy." He said before hoping out and I let out a sigh. I turned to the pile of clothes on my floor and groaned.

How are you gonna get yourself out of this one, Amour?
