"What the hell are you doing?" He asked as he looked at the pills that scattered on the floor. I checked the time, 12:30. I hadn't even realized the time moving so quickly.

"What do you think, genius?" I asked, putting my arms behind my back, "You know, suicide's supposed to be a private thing." I said, backing up, afraid of what he'd say. He looked at me with pity.

"Why would you want to throw away your life? You only got one of them." He said.

"Yeah, well mine sucks." I said and looked down at the floor, spitting out the last of the pills from my mouth into the sink. When I looked back up, he just looked sad.

"Come on. I got-I got something that'll cheer you up. He said, reaching for my hand and I flinched and backed up.

"No." I said sternly.

"No?" He asked.

"No!" I shouted, tears stinging my eyes, "You left me!" I said angrily. I knew it was because of what I said, but that didn't give him a reason to abandon his friend.

"I thought that was what you wanted! I thought you wanted me to leave you alone!" He shouted back, doing weird hand gestures, "Amour." he said almost pleadingly.

"No. You were-are-were the only friend I had-have-had." I stuttered, holding out a hand and pointing at him. He looked at my arm as did I, watching blood drip from a cut before putting it behind my back again.

"I'm-I'm sorry. I'm here now. Amour, please." He begged and I broke. The tears that had threatened to fall poured as my knees gave up and I fell. He caught me and I grabbed his shirt, balling my hands into fists.

"I'm so sorry, Maurice. I didn't mean what I said." I whispered in between sobs, "I didn't want you to leave." I said quietly and he sat down with me in his arms.

"It's alright. You're alright." He said in a hushed tone to me and I looked up at him, seeing his eyes glossed over. I reached up to touch his face before stopping to look at my bloodied arms.

"I-I screwed up." I said quietly and he shook his head.

"No. No you didn't." He said sternly, standing up with me in his arms before setting me down on the counter beside my sink. He checked the cabinets and drawers, finding a small first aids kit. He began running some water, pulling my arm under it. I winced as the cool substance ran over my broken skin. He then pulled my arms out of the water and opened the first aid kit, finding a small wad of gauze. He fixed me up with ease before pulling me into a hug as a new song began to play. "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls. I smiled at the song and slowly pulled Maurice into my room, still pressed against him as I hummed along to the song quietly.

"Hey, Maurice?" I asked in the middle of the song and he moved slightly.

"Yes?" he asked. I could see a small smile on his face.

"I've changed my mind." I said, pulling back and pulling him down to my height, pressing my lips to his gently. He smiled into the kiss as he kissed back and pulled me closer to him. He swiftly pulled me with him to my bed and we kissed until we ran out of breath and had to pull back.

"So you'll come with me?" He asked excitedly and I rolled my eyes, "What made you change your mind?" He asked.

"Without you, my life has been hell. And as cliche as it sounds, I've always liked you, maybe a little more than I knew." I said, smiling slightly. I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him tight, "I'm sorry for driving you away, Maurice." I said quietly.

"You didn't drive me away. I came back, see!" He said with a smile. I smiled back.

"Can we go before I change my mind?" I joked and he nodded, standing up with me in his arm, causing me to squeak and wrap my arms around his neck. I was holding onto him as my bed lifted and he jumped through, floating down to the bottom like a pro. I smiled and he set me down.

"So tell me honestly, is this going to hurt?" I asked, sitting on a couch that I presumed was Maurice's, but I couldn't be sure. It was probably stolen, as was the house, which I didn't even know that the underworld had.

"What? No, no, no, of course no-yeah it will a bit." Maurice said and I sighed, preparing myself.

"If I grow wings I'm going to cut them off and then cut you." I muttered and heard him chuckle as he hugged me, standing behind the couch.

"You go ahead and try that, babe." He said and I looked up at him.

"Don't call me b-" I was cut off when he leaned down and kissed me.

"What was that?" He asked, pulling away and hopping over the couch to sit next to me.

"Never mind." I mumbled, heat rushing to my cheeks. I looked around the house. It seemed abandoned, and probably had been, "Is this place actually yours?" I asked and he laughed.

"Of course it's mine. Why? Do you not like it?" He asked and I laughed.

"Just didn't know monsters owned hous-" I stopped and bent over as a pain shot through my back. I growled, grabbing onto Maurice.

"Must be morning." He said, pulling me closer. I groaned, wincing as the pain went to my head, getting worse and worse. I lifted my hands to my head, feeling tiny horns poke out of my skin as my eyes went wide.

I was really going through with this. I was a monster.

I pulled my hands back to see my skin changing color. A light gray was replacing it, it looked as if it was growing up my arm. My nails turned black and grew out into points. I opened my mouth as I felt my top canines sharpen into fangs as I moaned out in pain, leaning into Maurice.

"I know the pain is unbearable now, but it will be over soon." He said softly, maybe one of the softest tones he has ever used. I nodded, letting out a whimper as pain stung my ears and basically everywhere in my body.

As Maurice had said, the pain soon vanished and I was left as a totally new person-eh-monster. I looked up at him and he looked stunned.

"Oh no, I'm ugly aren't I?" I moaned and put my head in my hands.

"No! Come here. See for yourself." he said and took my hand and pulled me into the bathroom. My eyes widened as I saw my reflection. It was like I was seeing myself for the first time.

My hair had turned dark blue and there were tiny nubbed horns poking out. My eyes changed to a bright purple color and my pupils had turned into slits. My skin was all light gray and my lips were black, baring sharp fangs. My nails were black and sharp and as I spun around, I could see a tail follow me, a small point at end like a devils tail. I stopped and stared at myself, a small smile crossing my face.

"I'm... Free."
