He stayed by her bedside all day, until the nurse kicked him out.

"Please ring me if she wakes up" he begged.

The nurse promised she would so he left for home.

Once again, in his dreams, she was now happy and smiling. He woke up the next morning feeling hopeful she might wake up today. After a quick shower and coffee he headed back to sit with her.

"Hey Lily" he whispered softly. Her eyes fluttered slightly.

" I know you can hear me. When I speak your eyes move under your eyelids. Do you think you can open them for me?" he asked.

They flickered again and after a few more seconds they opened very slightly.

"Lily, you can do it" he urged. They opened a little more. He squeezed her hand softly again and her eyes opened most of the way. She seemed to be squinting a bit at the light.

She slowly turned towards him. Her eyes widened in surprise.

"Hey" he said softly. She opened her mouth as if to speak but couldn't.

"Do you need water?" he asked. She nodded very slightly. Tony rang for the nurse who came in and helped her to sit up a bit more and have a small sip of water.

"What happened?" she whispered.

"It seems your ex, Bryan, thought you were a punchbag"  he whispered back.

"You're Tony Perry" she whispered. "Why are you here?"

"You work in the shop by my house. I went in a few days ago and you showed me where the coffee was. Only it wasn't you. You were here. It was like a ghost form of you, except you weren't dead for it to be a ghost. I kept getting bad dreams about you being hurt, then one day ghost Lily gave me a note saying Bryan did it. When I saw him in the shop, then here I recognized him and told the nurse he was the one who hurt you. The police investigated and found out it was him. He's being charged with attempted murder. He can't hurt you anymore, ok."

Her shoulders sagged with relief. A tear escaped down her cheek and Tony gently wiped it away.

"What happens now?" she whispered.

"When the doctor says you can go, you can go and live a happier life without him" said Tony.

She shook her head ever so slightly.

"I've nowhere to go. I can't go back there and I've no family" she said quietly.

"Then you are coming to mine " he said, smiling at her.

"But I can't" she mumbled.

"Why ever not?" said Tony. "You'll need caring for."

"Because you're Tony Perry" she said sadly.

"I'm the guy who thought he was going crazy because I couldn't help you" he whispered. "I can help you now and I'm not taking no for an answer."

She smiled her beautiful smile at him. His heart flipped with happiness.
